During the outburst from Aear, and the response from Matt, Pratt had moved around the edge of the room and was generally trying to keep out of the way. He was far from comfortable to be sharing the room with a Hindu deity who had the ability to appear from no where, more so when he came bearing an ominous warning for the expedition.

“Like most ancient mythologies, the Hindu parthenon is complex and multilayered,” Henry explained as he moved around the edge of the room toward Fiona. “Narad was a Devas, whose sworn enemies the Asuras were a group of generally unpleasant folk. Having said that, there’s also numerous beasts and creatures of various deadly natures.” In other words, there was next to zero chance that the ‘Others’ that Narad was discussing were likely to be friendly to the expedition.

The deity, meanwhile, shook his head following the Meowtians outburst, muttering Narayana, Narayana to himself. After informing those present that everything happened according to Mahadev’s will, he slowly paced toward the control room balcony and looked down toward the Stargate. “Through that portal we followed our Lord’s will. And through that portal came horrors beyond our imagine.” His gaze drifted off, as if he had forgotten where he was. “We sought to battle evil, to learn its nature and conquer it. In the end, even Mahadev’s will could not contain that which sought to destroy us.”

Turning, Narad strode back into the control room, addressing all present and Fiona in particular. “Narayana, Narayana. If you seek protection, seek it elsewhere. Life cannot exist on this world while evil dwells below.”

Blake stood back, as Narad told them they were pretty much walking into a ready-made enemy faction. Wouldn't be an SGC intergalactic mission without that happening, though. It was really in response to Henry when he spoke. "As long as the Asuras don't consider humans to be food, we'll still be running better than the early days of Atlantis, though."

As for below, did he mean literally underground?

((Shortness, but I'm having the Army separation from hell entirely due to my own lack of foresight, and not sure what better to put out. Lily was still running around the infirmary to put every medicine at their rightful place in all the cabinets in the room and placing markers on every cabinet, in order to find it again when need be.

"It feels like I've been doing this for hours now, how much more medicine did they bring along?? Well I can imagine a great deal since we are along way from Earth so we can't just call home and get more supplies, when ever we feel like it.. can we??" She thought to herself.

Then Dr. Harrison runs throw the door and says "Dr. Tuck, Sgt. Kelly, come here quickly...what IS this thing?"..

As Harrison called them over he had some strange device with him he placed on the table, which look like a 'metal jelly donut'.

Dr. Tuck, took a good look at it before replying "I've never seen anything like it before, and it's certainly not a dunot. Where did you find it??" She said with a curious look on her face while staring at the strange device..

He looked up as both women approached.

I've never seen anything like it before, and it's certainly not a dunot. Where did you find it??" Roger looked at her, and pointed.

Out there. Was in the wall, behind a glass window. I don't know how we all missed it. He turned it over and over in his hands. Then, he picked up his radio and called out once more. He paged Dr. Pratt

I am going to send a photo of this thing we've found. Please help me to identify it. Roger snapped a photo with his tablet, and sent it to the anthropologist.

After the orders by the Admiral, Barker gathered a team of SF's and moved along the path towards the armory door. Arriving a the spot, he was taken back by the huge ceiling to floor double door that looked to be made out of the iron or similar metal. Yet he suspect the doors to be heavy. As opening and closing them would be a pain, use of man power and of course body aches. Perhaps they could work on some other way of opening it; everyday

Asserting the door for a moment, he moved closer to take a look, just what exactly he was meant to look for, Gavin wasn't sure. Trialling one hand over the door, for finding it's weak spot or at least a area where the faction of a C4 could be planted without fully damaging the door itself. He was sure that both his Commanding Officers were going on his tail if this received major injuries. Finding few areas, he motioned for the group to come, "Plant some, here, here, here and here."

At each 'here' he pointed to the precise location he wanted the C4 on, stepping back, he radioed Oxford, "Admiral, the door appears to be stuck," he spoke, "we are going to be using a small amount of C4 to crack the door open enough that the rest can be done manually." He was more looking forward to the finds inside of the place.

Facing the young girl with him, "We might want to take a step back," he advised as he took few steps away, they weren't expecting flying objects unless the dust that was set on the door was going to harm them. On that thought, it might pay to keep a large distance. Making sure that everyone was a good distance away he gave a nod to the holder of the controls.

"On a count of three," someone called out, "One. Two. Three."

Barker heard few small series of bangs then a sound of the door being unstuck, smiling, "Well let's go."

He arrived in the time to hear his former team member giving skin and bones of who the Devas were. His eyes then traveled to Narad, taking in the overall look of the guy, "Unpleasant is such a soft word," he fully stepped inside the room and took in the surroundings, "Fancy dancy, if the Power Core room was anything to go by, I suspect the whole place is pretty top notch." Not that he was complaing.

Yet by the standards of the norm that was for military this place was actually seemed more luxurious. Facing Matt, the man's angry face didn't go passed him. Who acually placed him that mood, Bobby felt for the person.  "Well we didn't really find anything that looked to be of value at the moment. Bu few things are sure seemed leave us baffled."

As Narad spoke, "Lord's will?" he asked, "Mahadev....you mean the one who holds the Trident?" And wears a tiger wrap for a skirt, although he did not mention that. "Doesn't the Hindu Mythology consider him to be the lord of death or something?"

Henry cast his mind back to his Introduction to Far East Mythology seminar from his first year at university. While he’d focused on Greek and Egyptian archaeology, he was now regretted that decision as he only had a very vague sense of the history and nature of the Hindu deities. “I don’t recall any specific instances of cannibalism,” he replied to Doctor Warren in a lower voice so Narad would not hear him. “But it was a pretty common motif in ancient myth. It may well be the nature of the Asuras.” Throughout the annals of time, mythological gods and beings had devoured one another. Chronos and Zeus were well known for it, the former eating his own children at one point. Ancient myth was nothing if not grizzly.

“Mahadev was more commonly known as Shiva, who had the moniker of ‘The Destroyer’,” Pratt explained to Captain Oxford. “So death and destruction were certainly in his realm of responsibilities.” Would it have been too much to ask that the expedition awaken a god of something more pleasant, say wine, music or love?

Any image appeared on a nearby monitor, having been sent through from Doctor Harrison who had found a strange object just outside the infirmary.

Henry studied the device for a moment, translating the text carved onto it. “It looks to be some sort of measuring device. Like a thermometer, but there was words here that translate as ‘power’ or ‘containment’. Interesting, they don’t match the words we saw in the power core, so I don’t think the two are related.” The archaeologist continued to study the item, noting that the device was showing an interesting reading.

“Whatever it’s reading, there is either too much or too like of it,” he announced to the room and over the radio to Roger. While Henry couldn’t be sure what the devices function was, he sure didn’t like the idea that there was too much or too little of something in the base.

Narad, who must have overhead his translation, looked at the device with an obvious expression of concern. “We knew the evil could not be held back forever,” he announced, hanging his head in shame. “Narayana, Narayana. You must leave here before the evil is unleashed. You can not hope to fight or survive it.”

"Outside," he barked, his face visibly angry, he was hearing pretty much enough, "I suggest that you take time to cool off. And when you are good and ready, we still be here. That's an order Mr Charter."

Aear decided he wasn't going to leave instead he sat and watched, his ears flicking to hear everyone. Was he really expected to leave when he was the only one that could fight against Narad if things turned sour? Instead Aear placed his hand on Henry's terminal and sat down. He was accessing the base's database using a combination of his own nanites and Cyleo. He was going to make a backup of the entire database but it seemed that someone had beat him too it.

Would you guys send me and Cyleo the backup so we can start decrypting? Aear sent a mental message to Makes-Eternal-Everlasting, or rather to Madromas who he figured would intercept. In the mean time he turned to the screen Roger had appeared on showing the odd doughnut shaped object.

I can't do any energy readings from up here but from the shape it could be similar to a dimensional fold made for containment. he suggested to the group. As he did Narad spoke again.

Aear turned and grinned at the man thing. It would seem you have no idea who your dealing with. he said his ego getting the better of him. Challenge accepted! he added. Whatever evil Narad was referring to had not met him yet and there was no way in the abyss that he was going to just roll over and let the s**t the fan.

An alarm went off on the holopanel; [WARNING] written in several dialects, mostly in Fijitia and a langauge Makes did not recognise whatsoever. She had a localised system map up on the main screen in the room as the warning flashed to her left. 'Madromas; kill that warning; give me the localised system with connected ports to this location on this screen.' Makes ordered.

[/Confirmed. Energy spike detected. Backup locked. Fiels accessed are passcode locked, it will take some time to unlock. Energy spike detected once more. Central control tower of this base is the source of the energy spike, unlike anything I have ever encountered. Madromas replied, the hologram of Madromas was on the control desk nearby. Data scrolled across the ancillas 'body' as she scrolled through the information that Henry Pratt was accessing just before it locked him out. She had made a full copy of everything as he was even looking through it at the time.

Makes went back to looking through power control systems, powerline control networks, even comm networks. Once Madromas brought up a network of connected systems Madromas spoke up again [/Warning; unknown craft detected outsystem. Unknown tags onboard. Appears to be of Erde-Tyrene in origin; However I am unable to confirm without a full scan of the craft.

'bring it on screen' Makes said, Madromas did so. Makes had no idea what she was looking at. Humans did weird things. The ship was large yes, but it seemed useful.

Madromas then seemed distracted by something. data scrolled across her body again, this time more fervently than before. [/Lesser races can only access so much, the human male was able to access the database, given time he'd have found out everything about this planet, the war.... A backup cannot be created at this time. System is still underpowered. Madromas replied to Aear Charter, clearly unhappy about something important that he'd butted in on. Madromas., a seventh generation Ancilla, was multitasking to the extreme at this point.

She was back to fervently entering her codes, her petite, pale fingers flying at a speed that would be measured only in Machs. She might be at the end of her knowledge base, but she was also Irish, and stubborn as an ox. She wouldn't be beaten unless and until she had exhasuted every resource-and herself-that she knew of. And that hadn't totally happened yet. Now, she was trying Morse code, sent out into the Universe, a call for assistance that only someone with a technologically-minded brain would possibly understand. Perhaps another Stargate unit, or at least something HUMANOID. She was tired of animals and mystics.

Behind her, she picked up on Aear speaking.

It would seem you have no idea who your dealing with. he said his ego getting the better of him. Challenge accepted! Fee stopped in the middle of her transmission, and twirled around. Aear was going to get it! And a small, childish part of her wanted to see him get it, and the other part just couldn't believe he was so arrogant as to say so.

She got Dr. Harrison's photo, and brought it up on Henry's screen, letting him deal with that, because to her, it looked like a pill case or that sort of container that birth control pills were kept in. Not that she'd KNOW, but she'd seen them.

She saw Aear's screen come to life, and made a face. He'd better send it to HER, too, if he got anything. How did he DO that??! Damn cats.

Rog waited, slightly impatiently, for Dr. Pratt's reply. He noticed that Dr. Tuck and Sadie were waiting, too, and both were tense. Odd. The machine he held DID seem to be giving off a strange energy, though. Maybe that was it. Dr. Pratt's reply came.

Well, I guess we press the buttons and see what happens? Let me do it, and you two stand FAR away... Just in case something went wrong, HE would go down as the chief of medicine.

He listened to words Narad was saying. Understood them even to a degree. Rubbing his face he stepped froward as SV-1 arrived. Hearing Captain Oxford, Matt nodded, and faced Narad again, "Whatever the evil is can't be too bad." After reading the files on the Gou'ald and exchanging details on Atlantis with his XO, Matt was sure these guys couldn't be any worse.

Leaning on the console, "We took a one way ticket here. We don't have a way of getting back." Sure they had the address, but not the means of that ZPM to boost the power of the gate to dial another galaxy. Another thing was that till Shiva arrived there was little they could do.

Bobby nodded at Pratt's words, "For someone who has fate of death in his hands he looks very calm by nature." It was a offhanded mention from observing the guy during one of their missions.

Facing Pratt then Bobby, "Destroyer?"

Someone needed to get Matt a dummies guide to Hindu Mythology. Bobby reasoned with himself.

Narad considered the responses from Aear and Matt, the first defiant and challenging, the second calm and logical. “Narayana, Narayana,” he muttered to himself, shaking his head. “The young do not learn, they are brash and certain of themselves.” The Hindu deity took one last look at the Stargate before walking to the middle of the room.

Just as quickly as he appeared, Narad disappeared into thin air.

Henry was just about to ask everyone what had just happened when Narad’s voice rang out through the room.

“Your youthful energy has served you well until now, but heed my words: this is a battle you can not win.”

The room feel into silence. Just like everyone else, Henry was thinking over Narad’s parting the words. The Devas had been allied with the Ancients, one of the most advanced races of people the universe had ever known. If the combined strength of these two civilisations, what chance did a rag tag group of humans with limited supplies have?

The silence of the room was broken by a loud beeping which suddenly began to ring out from a console. Henry looked over at the new alarm, and took a step back in shock.

“It’s the, it’s the,” the archaeologist stammered. “It’s the life sign scanner. It’s detected something down in the tunnels beneath the base... something big.”

Containment sphere

Half a mile below the base was a thick-walled room which had been sealed for generations. The room was small and darkened, and held only a single object - a sphere of coloured light which hovered a few feet of the ground. For countless years the ball of pure energy had fulfilled one task, retaining the horror that was contained within. A hybrid of Ancient and Devas design, the technology had in its day been considered the pinnacle of technology in this galaxy.

As it had been doing for years, the colour of the sphere continued to fade and shrink. Having reached minimum critical mass, the sphere dissolved into thin air, as if it had never existed.

A deafening roar filled the base, heard from the lowest levels of the base to the upper-most levels of the base.
