Roger got his notepad and his clipboard out and ready for his appointment with Aear. He was not sure how to feel about this appointment-normally, he was a mix of emotion-excitement, to assist, and nervousness-that he would say something stupid, and fear, of course, that he would fail. But he wasn't sure if his normal style and the "rules" and education of modern psychotherapy actually applied to alien beings. Well, he would find out. He just hoped that this time, Aear wouldn't have a military escort. He could handle the kid all on his own. Actually, that gave him an IDEA. He made some notes for himself, and then stood up, and put on his white coat. He always felt so official, like an old-school doctor. Back home, in England, doctors like him were called "Mr." so-and-so; only surgeons were "Doctor." Except that blasted TV doctor with the time machine, that is.
He got the psych area ready-he and Kana had moved in a couch, and across from it was a chair he liked to sit in. He never expected people to "lie"on the couch, but it was far more comfortable than a plastic chair. There were also some throw pillows, and a small space heater, just in case. After he wiped down the couch with a disinfectant wipe-cleanliness was key-he looked at his watch. It was time.
He walked towards the door, and opened it, leaving it open for Aear to come in. He stuck his head out the door, and called out for the man.
Hello, Aear. Come on in... He led the man inside, and pointed to the couch, Have a seat. Would you like some water to drink?
