The chevrons locked and the gate burst into life before the technician closed the iris as standard protocol.

"This is Tamura Gate System calling the SGC. Awaiting transfer of Meowtian officer for tech analysis as agreed. Please advise." said the Meowtians AI over the radio. As it turned out the Meowtians had no idea how to use subspace to send messages. They had something similar but as of yet neither side had had any luck getting them to work together.

"SGC to Tamura." spoke the Technician. "The iris is open, your free to pass." he said as he opened the Iris again.

Aear stepped through the gate looking around as he walked down the ramp, the gate closing behind him. He'd been to Earth before, the other side of it at least, but he'd not been in the SGC before. "Almost like being on a ship, metal everywhere. Just wish they had dianamite." he thought aloud as he practically walked into his welcoming party.

Even after arriving back from his night out with Matt, Bobby hadn't been able to sleep a wink. He had tossed and turned and gave up on getting some eye shut. After roaming the base, he had found himself in the gateroom, watching and studying the ring. Was there life out there, they had little idea about? Aliens that really existed. From the briefing it did sound like it.

Sighing he watch the gate roll as the each Chevron locked before the burst happened, certain he had way too much to drink, he rubbed his eyes as the solo figure walked about the ramp. Before shaking his head to clear on him.

Taking a really good look at him and his tail....he had a tail? "Maybe I have seen CATS too many times with Sue," he grumbled to himself and wondered why he let his sister-in-law drag him to the boring stage production. What the heck was he suppose to do? Greet the guy?

The technician looked at him, "Sir?" he nodded towards the gateroom.

Sighing, he made his way down and to the room, "Welcome to ..Earth" he was sure he need his brain re-wired.

Aear almost walked right into Bobby as he was looking around the gateroom analyzing as much as he could.
"Welcome to... Earth." came the voice that made Aear stop and look at Bobby.

"Hi thankies!" said Aear in what he was sure Bobby would find far too happy, not that he cared mind. "Good to be back, it's been a little while, wasn't on this corner before but you look like fun!" said Aear putting his face about an inch from Bobby's analyzing him as well. His gaze fell to Bobby's chest looking for a linker core. There was no reason humans couldn't have them... Just somewhat underdeveloped in comparision maybe. From his time on Earth last time he'd come to the conclusion that they could learn magic if they had the right training, hell if he found a good one they could be on Meowtian level. Chances of that were slim at best however. Aear stood back a huge grin on his face. "Sergeant Aear Charter, Meowtian 456th Noizy Tribe."

Marah had been behind Bobby as the gate swirled open and took in the new person as he came down the walkway. She looked at him realising that the man looked half feline in appearance and then had fully burst into laughter at the surprise and comment that Bobby said. She had managed to regain her self control as they left the control room to the gate room to welcome him when the new member walked almost into them. Which caused Marah to hold back another fit of laughter threatening to come out at Bobby's reaction to the alien.

"Welcome to ..Earth"

Marah looked at the man, "Captain Robert Oxford and Lieutenant Marah Law, at your service ... " she left blank the last so that the man could make his introduction. But Marah was left raising an eyebrow at Aear. "Before? Really" Marah let slip as she stared at the alien.

"Sergeant Aear Charter, Meowtian 456th Noizy Tribe."

"Glad to meet you Sergeant" Marah said in response.

What the heck was with woman and giggling, he wondered as he looked at Aear with whom he nearly collided . All in all his brain was screaming at Sue. The whiskers thing was just...Bobby really had no word for it or for this whole program. Or for the tail.

While his brain scrambled to work, Law was faster. But the words caught his attention. It seemed that he guy had been here before. All he wanted to do was give him a poke as if he was five year old who was watching the fish swim.

Meowtian? Noizy Tribe? He blinked getting the whole - he was meeting and talking to a freaking alien - around his brain, "You mean as in cat's meow?" his said before he could even stop his own mouth.

Shutting his mouth, he looked at Law who didn't seem too surprised to see the man, yet did. Now he really needed a shrink. "How long had earth been...allied?"

It wasn't hard to tell that Aear was enjoying watching the two of them struggle to get their minds around the situation. He did note that 'Captain Oxford', he was going to call him Bobs from now on, seemed to be far more confused then the Lieutenant, her name was now Lawly.

"Before? Really" Marah let slip as she stared at the alien.

"Yeah I've been on Earth before, didn't use the gate though, messed up on a transfer and got lost in the woods." said Aear staring off at the ceiling for a second.

"You mean as in cat's meow?"

"Don't be silly Bobs, cats speak Mewish." retorted Aear looking at the man as if he had said something strange. "I suppose you want to know why I'm here right Lawly?" he added to Marah "They sent me over to look at your tech and see what sort of swaps we can do."

That and their government wanted to see exactly what sort of tech level they were at. Not that it they'd be able to steal any tech since magical and electronic components just did not like to get along. Still it was always a good idea to know what the neighbors were up to.

"Fancy leading to way to your tech team?"

Koren had watched the entire event from the control room and was listening in on the conversation. Koren couldn't help but wondering what the heck this Meowtian (he'd have to get used to this one) could possibly offer them, aside from beaming technology which they already possessed on their ships.

Koren had a thing for cats, but this was on a whole new level. Koren found himself thinking of his parents cat, Hefner, who stood in stark contrast to his parents stern negativity with his crazy, almost obnoxious happiness and his tendency to get in over his head. Koren hoped the latter part of the comparison was not true of Sergeant Charter.

Koren headed down the stairs and into the gateroom...

No offense intended, but we require all personnel who come through the gate to undergo a medical screening before being allowed to tour the base. It's just a security precaution, sir; no harm will come to you."

Aear watched as the newcomer walked over to him and introduced himself.

"Second Lieutenant Koren Telion, sir. No offense intended, but we require all personnel who come through the gate to undergo a medical screening before being allowed to tour the base. It's just a security precaution, sir; no harm will come to you."

"You think I might be carrying some sort of super flu do you Korey?" said Aear looking at Koren with his right whilst his blind left eye seemed to scan him up and down. Which it totally was, he'd moved some of his nanites into it so he could see. Well see using mana streams and flows at least. There was no way that thing could see using light anymore. "But if it damages Cyleo or my nanites in any way I'm going to eat you. Lead the way." he said motioning for Koren to lead him off. "Later Bobs, Lawly!" he waved to the others cheerfully.

Shutting his mouth, he looked at Law who didn't seem too surprised to see the man, yet did. Now he really needed a shrink. "How long had earth been...allied?"

Marah had barely noticed Bobby's first outburst and thus didn't have a chance to burst into laughter, she was now running through all the mission briefings she had read about the Vedas project but could not remember one mentioning an alien cat race called the Meowtians. She let Aear answer before asking another question.

"Yeah I've been on Earth before, didn't use the gate though, messed up on a transfer and got lost in the woods."

Marah stood there not quiet staring but in thought at this and then smiled, "Let me guess caused trouble while you were here" she said with a smirk on her face. She was getting a good feeling off this cat man. He seamed to be the sort that would make things 'interesting'. Something Marah might have to keep an eye on.

"Don't be silly Bobs, cats speak Mewish." retorted Aear looking at the man as if he had said something strange. "I suppose you want to know why I'm here right Lawly?" he added to Marah "They sent me over to look at your tech and see what sort of swaps we can do."

She almost laughed again at that statement but instead rose an eyebrow to the 'Lawly' nickname. "Well it had crossed my mind, but thank you" she answered him as she noted Koren walk up.

Marah nodded at this. It was procedure and could not be skipped.

"Lost in the woods?" Bobby angled his head at him, "I though cats had a better sense of direction." Now he was really going to keep shut.

Bobby frowned, Mewish? Perhaps the whiskey was playing tricks on him. Was the guy..cat...whatever..was even serious? Oxford had doubts on that, but still the face before him did look like a cat. While dogs were thing but cats. Nope, he wasn't going start on cat jokes.

Bobs? He looked at the retreating back or the wagging tail of the their Meow. No one got away from calling him Bobs, Travis did, but that was beside the point. His gaze fell on Law then at Teilon, "He calls me Bobs once more, he's not getting any dry fish food."

Oh great good going there, he mentally gave himself a pat of the back. Maybe he really should re-treat back to his quarters for the night and try getting some sleep.

People. There were people. In HER space. She was the TA. WHY were all these people in her space?

Fee looked around. The team was there-did these people ever sleep?! Fee didn't-she'd had a long day, and had sought refuge with her machines. Machines were lovely, weren't they? Silent, nonjudging. She liked machines. Still, there were TOO many people. Too many MALE people, particularly. 

The tinny voice had come over her comm station. She'd let in the bloody interloper, because all the systems were clear. It was Koren's job and Liam Kelly to check the security. If she messed up, she was sorry, but did it really require SO many hands to correct one woman? Captain Oxford had blown in, with Koren, Marah, and some bloke she didn't recognize in tow. The unknown one was dressed like a cat. Fee didn't judge-she glanced down at her own outfit. She had on Mickey Mouse leggings and a sweatshirt with a panda on it. Besides, Fee never paid much attention to people, so it wasn't entirely strange that the diminuitve redhead hadn't caught the full story. 

She put her headset back on, and faced the Captain. 

Captain Oxford, a new team member? I shall get him squared up with a computer. Asimov and Copernicus are taken, but I still have my favorite, Amelia....you didn't ask for one, Captain, but I assume you'd want Nemo. All of Fee's machine's had nicknames, most based in science, but a few in literature. She smiled at Koren, and nodded once at Marah-the woman still kind of frightened her-and then turned to the boyish man in masquerade. 

Allo. I am Fiona Maccafferty...Fee. Did you need something more, comms wise?

[Aear Charter]

Aear looked around the room as he was led inside. To tell the truth he was expecting more, he was told the Earthicans had been playing with the stargates for a while and had a lot of new tech as a result. Yet this room just seemed so low tech to him. Last time he was here he had uploaded his consciousness to the net for a little while so he knew all about the SGC, hell it was him that hacked into NASA, well to him it was more he blasted their door down but when you live on the net everything looks different.

Captain Oxford, a new team member? I shall get him squared up with a computer. Asimov and Copernicus are taken, but I still have my favorite, Amelia....you didn't ask for one, Captain, but I assume you'd want Nemo.

Aear's ears twitched at the word computer. "I get to play with Amelia?" he said a little too happily "Where is she? Do I get to play now?" Aear loved machines and AIs. They didn't judge his origins and they didn't fear him because of them. He'd only met 2 people outside of Trident who didn't have a glint of fear in their eyes once they knew.

"Fee.. Fee.... Nope can't think of a better nickname. Sergeant Aear Charter, Meowtian 456th Noizy Tribe." replied Aear "I'd like to take a look at your subspace communicators. They use the same principle so I'm think they must be using different dimensions..."

I get to play with Amelia?Where is she? Do I get to play now? Fee raised a single eyebrow, and pushed her speckys back up her nose. She pointed with her chin towards the box of supercomputers that NASA had sent. 

Amelia is just there...computer number 5. I like to give them names. Lt. Law has Copernicus, and Sgt. Calmara has Asimov. And Nemo and Ahab are for Captain Oxford, and the Admiral, Fee prattled on, pulling the box closer to her, and removing the tablet machines carefully until she found number 5. She glanced at Koren, and Bobby. 

Has he been security-cleared yet? Or whatever bloody term you people use? She wasn't about to hand over ANYTHING to anyone with first double-checking that it was safe. Fee might have a newfound distaste in her employer, but she wasn't about to sell them out. 

The cat man continued. He was even more childish than Fee-suddenly, she felt like someone's mummy. 

Fee.. Fee.... Nope can't think of a better nickname. Sergeant Aear Charter, Meowtian 456th Noizy Tribe. I'd like to take a look at your subspace communicators. They use the same principle so I'm think they must be using different dimensions... Fee gazed at the young man. Was he KIDDING? Fee was just a TINY bit possessive of the comm station...only certain hands were allowed to touch it. Like hers. And anyone under her direct supervision. Unless it wasn't her shift, and even still, she'd likely be watching it like a dog watches his bones. 

Yes, 'tis Fee. Thank you, I've always fancied it. Sometimes me dad calls me Colleen, though. It means Dear in Celtic. Nice to meet you, Sgt. More bloody military people? Next time, can't they pick up a bloody civillian? 

Noizy tribe? Funny, people say I am loud, too...about your request. I am sorry, but the system is quite fragile, and if you'd like to see how he works-I've decided it must be a man because it's a bloody pain-then you can fill out this form, and one of the CO's will double check your security clearance. In the meantime, however, I will gladly let you watch. I will make you a user account on the global system. You won't be able to access the important security data-even Captian Oxford doesn't have clearance for THAT. Fee hadn't realized that she was blocking all access to the computer with her tiny body. She was like a mother bear protecting her cubs from a big ban hunter. It wasn't as if Fee WOULDN'T share, she just...she liked to always know what was happening with systems, in case of a crash or system failure.  She handed Aear a sheet of paper, and looked up at the others. 

Is that all right?! I heard Lt. Telion say something about the infirmary?! Fee wanted them to move on, and leave her be. Even Koren-she was still trying to process that man and how he'd broken through her barriers so fast. And she had also overhead Aears nicknames. A habit she might soon nip in the bud-calling people by thier actual names was more respectful to Fiona's way of thinking. 

(Hehe. Fee's snickering at the nicknames. Can she call Koren Korey, too?! And Bobs. At least Aear didn't go for Robby :D Lawly. Ok. I need to go get ready for carpool...too excited for this thread we are)

Koren's jaw was setting ever quicker as the cat-man seemed intent on avoiding the infirmary at all costs, and now he was accosting Fee about tech she hadn't even handed out to the team yet.

"Is that all right?!" She asked about giving him one of NASA's new toys, "I heard Lt. Telion say something about the infirmary?!"

"The Sergeant is the diplomatic representative to the Meowtian people," Koren said kindly to Fee, the name still not rolling off of his tongue with any comfort, "You can show him the computers, but I'm afraid we can't let you touch anything just yet."

Koren preempted the Meowtians next comment, "No matter how primitive we are, we still hold some things very close to the chest. I'm sure you understand our need for keeping some information confidential." After receiving his orders to protect the expedition, and without having even left earth, Koren was already foreseeing a big security risk. This Meowtian was military, and his playful demeanor might be hiding some pretty dark ulterior motives. If he was as good as he said he was, They could be giving the hand-held tour of the SGC to their most dangerous opponent yet.

Aear was starting to find a kindred spirit in Fee. Finally someone else who named ALL of their computer systems. He also noted how protective she was, she was obviously a major player in the design of the system. Then she handed him a sheet of paper. Aear blinked at the page. "Wow I have used paper since, well since last time I was here." He didn't really understand what was written on the sheet however, whilst he spoke fluent Communal he'd never actually bothered to learn to read or write it.

"The Sergeant is the diplomatic representative to the Meowtian people," Koren said kindly to Fee, the name still not rolling off of his tongue with any comfort, "You can show him the computers, but I'm afraid we can't let you touch anything just yet."

Korey had just said the wrong thing to Aear. Fee was holding Ameila and Aear's finger touched her as soon as he said the word 'touch'. He used a few of his nanites to interface with it bringing it to life instantly. Able to interface with the hardware directly he didn't do anything major or dangerous to her. All he did was add a single feature, a magical sensor. The sensors popped up and showed several blips. The largest one had Aear's name attached to it.

"No matter how primitive we are, we still hold some things very close to the chest. I'm sure you understand our need for keeping some information confidential."

"Rogata, rogata." said Aear turning around to Korey. He actually looked serious, almost like a different person. "Procedures to protect your precious people. I can respect that."
