"And, to answer your question, I am OK. I understand that you were reacting as your training dictates. I also understand you were attempting to follow through on keeping me safe. I appreciate it." Koren starred, fascinated at Fee. So this is what Fee's business look was. Koren merely nodded at her thank you and turned back to the proceedings. "Do you REALLY think that this cat alien man is a danger?"
"Well..." Koren began, but the Doctor cut him off.
"Lt., Miss. Sorry to interrupt, but there's something you should see..." Koren walked over to the monitor the Doctor was at, taking one glance. He swore out loud. "nanorobtics."
"Does that answer your question?" Koren asked Fee. The SGC's history with nanorobotics was well known and every new recruit was well versed in the mission reports pertaining to them. The replicators weren't just a bad memory or terrible scar, they were an open wound here at the SGC, and seeing little crawling blood-cell-sized robots sent shivers down the Lieutenant's spine.
Koren and the Doctor exchanged a dark look, then the Doctor turned to the machine, "Aear, are you ok in there?! I have a few questions, so I am sending you out." With a push of a button, the scan stopped, and the machine pushed Aear through with a POP! "Nanorobtics. What's attached?"
"Is something wrong?" asked Aear. Koren couldn't speak; he just looked the man up and down, and new-found respect and fear forming in his mind.
Aear seemed to find this frightening himself, "Ok whatever it is I didn't do it this time." he said taking a step back. Koren saw his left fist clench and knew what it was; a coping mechanism. Something had happened in Aear's past and whatever they were doing was triggering the memory. Koren had a similar ism; he dipped his head and pressed his eyes shut very hard to suppress his episodes, and if Aear's were as bad as Koren's had been, something needed to be done quickly.
Koren stepped forward, extending a hand to Aear as if to welcome him back in, "We know, Aear," He said calmly, gently, "It's just that my friends and I here have had some really bad experiences with nanorobotics that almost took over our planet. We just want to know what your nanorobots are about and what they help you with." Koren winced a little; his negotiation skills were a little lacking at the moment, but he hoped his reassurances would suffice. He still didn't trust Aear, but a soldier having a full-blown episode with that kind of tech at his disposal was the last thing they needed right now, especially if they wanted to live to breath another second. Koren looked to Fee for help, then the Doctor; he was a psychologist after all.
