It had taken more scrounging than he wanted to admit to, but Steve had managed to sweep up enough odds and ends to make something resembling appetizers and had blasted an email to SV-3 with the invitation for a team night in the lounge, same space where the last get together had been. He'd claimed and staked out the space and now to wait for his team.

He was still in  the expedition uniform but his jacket was tossed over one of the stools. Steve inspected the scratches the giant squirrel had given him, daily infirmary checks with his new medic showed that it was healing nicely and Blake's help with changing the dressing was keeping the scratches clean. They'd been able to clean up and fix the wiring damage the creatures had done and used the chance to re-wire some areas completely.

He moved some of the stools and sat down on the one bench-like, too hard to be properly called a couch piece of furniture.

Javan had had to finish up some tests on local bacterium, one of which seemed to act like yeast, yet on a scale that made Earth yeast look dead. The other Bacteria he had high hopes for, it was in the blood of every animal native to the planet, as far as he had found at this point, and it seemed to act like a combination white blood cell, platelet. The injuries on the local animals he had captured healed in half the time in the ones who had the bacteria, compared to the ones who were given an antibacterial that wiped out the bacteria. It clotted the wounds, and killed other bacteria that were detrimental to the host's life. He had placed a sample of the bacteria in a dish with a sample of E. Coli. The E. Coli had been completely wiped out.

Javan arrived in the lounge, tired, but excited with his discoveries. He was a doctor, not a researcher, but he could write a piece on this bacteria, hell he could do a whole study and get a Ph.D. He could change the world if the bacteria could be adapted to the human Host.

"How goes things Hamrick? Your scratches are doing well, any complaints?" He pulled his lab coat off and flung it over a stool. He pulled out a bottle, it was a clear glass piece and was filled with a milky blue liquid. "If you want you can use this to clean the wound, or drink. Made it myself in my spare time. Tastes like honey, and has the alcohol content of a glass of wine."

Stephanie was exhausted from not sleeping well and it was near dinner time. She had used the time to go spend with Ajay who had come to check on her. Stephanie was feeling a little better after talking with him. The man had answers for just about everything. Stephanie pulled chair around and sat backwards on it as she looked towards Steve. "Feeling better?" she offered it more as a greeting than anything.

The woman let out a yawn without realizing it. The nightmares were back again and she was testing her own patience as of lately. Right, well they were neither the here nor there at the moment. She was lost in thought though fully aware of what was going on around her for the next few minutes until Javan walked in. The last person she wanted to know anything about anything going on in her life right now. This had to be payback from Matt or Travis for something. The man was like a leech and was everywhere.

Steve showed the mostly-healed parallel marks. "Healing cleanly. You've got a still, I guess if any place has the hardware for that, it'd be the infirmary. Can't make Fireball, can you?"

And there were still glasses, Steve went and grabbed three and set them down by the flat stainless steel tray. "Scratches are healing, and you know we finished the wiring fixes. Managed to roust up appetizers from the kitchen's dinner leavings. You guys and SV-1 are getting the short end of the stick out here, we used to put on full dinner parties for the combined eight of SG-15 and SG-11. Of course, then you'd probably throw something in, we used to do potluck style on sides and we made the main dish."

Yep, it wasn't exactly the parties the Hamrick-Warrens would have thrown on Earth, but Steve pointed to the two halves of the tray. "The little sandwiches on that side are hypothetically ham, and the ones on the opposite side are a close approximation of turkey."

Javan laughed. "I can try to make some, but this stuff is made from a local fruit that tastes like a blueberry but looks like a strawberry crossed with a raspberry. The Yeast like bacteria I used in the distilling process is twice as effective as Earth Yeast, and yet produces only a third of the alcohol in the same span of time. Also, if you don't mind id like to get a blood sample from you, I found an interesting bacteria living in the blood of the local wildlife, I want to see if it passed to you, I don't have any in my blood, but several of the mechanics do, I want to see if its having the same effect in a human host as it does in the animals."

He gave the sandwiches a sideways look. "You should have asked the mechanics. They've been killing these things that look like rabbits with no legs, they cooked one up. I tried some, tastes like venison, only it has half the fat, and a texture like beef."

Well at least she had her answer to whether or not he was feeling better. Though when the talk turned to food she could have guessed that would be the case. This was a room full of men. Then again she about as much if not more testosterone flowing through her personality than some of the guys around the base. The woman was by no means feminine (well at least not at work).

"You get used to a lot of things. MRE's are quite possibly the worst tasting things ever for a vegetarian" she pointed out. Nope Stephanie was not a fan of the whole meat thing. When he said hypothetically and approximately meats she made a face. "Okay theoretically if I WAS a meat eater.. I am most definitely not anymore the way you phrased that" she pointed out.

Yeah she would settle for the MRE's over hypothetical meat any day. Though it was a good thing she had already eaten not long ago. "I think I will stick with the water but the thought is appreciated Colonel" she replied. Javan's further talk about meat she just ignored. It didn't matter what kind of meat it was, it just was not her cup of tea.
