On Hampton Park Drive
Colorado Springs
Blake thwacked his head against the dash of the Ford. "I don't know. But I know this is wrong, because my preacher father sayin', 'They should get married' about me and Colonel Hamrick is right out of the darned Twilight Zone."
Logically, logically, think it out. Blake pressed his fingers into his temples. "Go straight down Hampton Park, get out of the suburbs, we'll have more room to run once we get on North Union."
He looked behind as the twenty-year-old truck's engine complained with a grinding sound. "Should have taken the Charger, don't ever tell him I admitted this, but it's way faster than my truck."
Which was going to be a problem, as they went faster than strictly necessary onto North Union and the black muscle car was backing at high speed out of the drive. "Floor it, but I don't think this truck can outrun his car."
Not that Blake would ever let go of the F-150 he'd had since undergrad at GSU. There had to be a reason that they had apparently skipped the hotel and yet Sarah was gone. "Just drive, I'll navigate. Head for the Radisson Hotel, at the airport."
He had a feeling, maybe if he found Sarah things would start to make sense. He had to laugh. "Whether this is real or not, you feel like meeting my ex-wife, Sergeant?"

Sarah shook her head. "Well, depends on your definition of pain, Robert."
She got away from him and walked toward the bed, working on understanding. Why had Dr. Warren left this form, and yet Captain Oxford was clearly interested if his vitals were any indication.
She went stiff, looking at the window. There was a problem in the situation. She grabbed his arm and pulled. "We need to go somewhere else, now. I don't think you want us to be here when my husband gets here."
