Keeping his distance Akash leaned on the wall, as Elin spoke and watched her work away. He had after all left his notes and books back at the base; his tablet however was on the ship. Not that he was using it often anyway. As most of his notes he might need were left one the base. He could curse his luck but he wasn't going to. As his memory did contain some if not all he might need.

Looking at Doctor Larsen, he internally smiled at her comments yet nodded, "We just have to be careful that we don't end up arousing Kali out of her. If that happens...." He trailed off and shook his head as he joined the group once the print outs were there. Looking over them, he mused deep in thought as how they would approach her. Hearing Pratt, "If either of the two don't show up, Kailash is another location we can look at. Her main home with Shiva."

Turning to Doctor Harper, "She was," the historian stated, "She went to great lengths to have him as her husband after the death of Shiva's first with Sati. Even shunning the luxuries of palace life she was brought up with." She must have done something right.

"That," he agreed with Harper's answer, plus adding his own, "Plus he is considered Lord of the Lords. In their Chains of Command - if they had one- he was the frist on the list."

He was on his feet as Harper announced her findings, scanning it over, he faced the two ladies of this reality, "Is Warren up for a off-world trip?" he asked. Hoping his guts were right that they might find her here. They need to move and fast.

As everyone worked away, scouring the databases for clues that might lead to Parvati, Ms Cooper asked as to why their cruiser was called the Shiva. “The choice of name always struck me as interesting,” Henry replied, not looking up from the door he was reading. “All other Earth cruisers are named after Greek deities. I guess the SGC wanted to give it a fearful name that the locals could relate to.”

The archaeologist continued to pour over the book he was reading, which contained mission reports from the SV teams in this reality. Some of the planets and people that they had encountered were identical to those of his own reality, while other missions were completely different, despite having taken place on the same planet. Where this reality had explored a planet that his own reality hadn't, Henry made sure to make a quick note or two. Such information might be of use one day.

That was, of course, assuming that they managed to get back to their own reality. At the moment there hadn't been much talk of that; defending the planet from Nisumbha was all everyone was focused on. The unspoken agreement seemed to be that if Henry's people helped defend the base, the base would help find them a way to get home.

Elin looked up as Harper announced that she had found a reference to the planet Shivaloka in the database. “Send me the file,” the Norwegian archaeologist asked. The file appeared on her screen, and she quickly skimmed down it. “Not much here, but we do have a gate address. Let's check it out.”

Stargate

Elin, Henry, the two Isabelles and Akash, escorted by a squad of Troodons, materialised through the event horizon of the Stargate on the planet Shivaloka. As time was of the essence, they hadn't wasted any with a full briefing or getting properly kitted out, instead just grabbing what equipment they could on the way out and pulling vests over their civilian clothes. A MALP had been dispatched a few minutes ago, and the footage it had sent back did not offer much hope.

“Destroyed,” Doctor Larsen said as she took in the view. “It's all destroyed.”

Before them, as far of the eye could see, was a once majestic city which had been reduced to rubble. Scorched and burn out buildings and towers lined streets pitted with craters. There was almost total silence around them, with not a single sound of human or animal life, and only the occasional flickering of a still burning fire. By the looks of things, what ever had happened here had taken place no more than a week ago.

“Orbital bombardment I'd guess,” Henry added, pointing to the massive craters that dotted the landscape. “Looks like they weren't too interested in taking prisoners either.” While they were still some distance away, human remains could be seen between the Stargate and the city. Some of the locals must have tried to make it to the safety of the Stargate when the bombs started dropping.

“Finding Parvati was our last hope,” Elin declared, dropping to her knees in exacerbation. “What now?”

The Ancient doors slid open and Major Sharp-Teeth walked in, giving a strong squawk of good news as he gestured with his long fingers in a way that was something like a drone.

And it was first good news Warren had had since, well, since the brief time the long-range sensors had functioned. "He-Who-Bites just informed me that Major Hamrick successfully activated the chair and that we have 80% of our drone capacity, with one launcher damaged. I can rely on my electrical engineers to fix that, several of them have first-hand Ancient tech experience from the Atlantis expedition. Cory will lead that team."

It was the holler from the control room that made him excuse himself and step out briefly.

The archaeology section had an address they wanted to check out. Warren pinched the bridge of his nose, all civilians. Desperate times. "Elin, make sure you take security. SV-10, they're all Troodons. Translate as smoothly as you can for our visitors. Team leader is Major Smoking-Sunlight, he's always been the most patient with being translated."

As they prepared to leave, Warren nodded to his gate technician and walked back toward the conference room.

Warren sat back down as Sharp-Teeth moved an empty, and human-designed, chair away to step up to the table. "Depending on what they find, we'll calibrate our strategy. I trust Major Basks-in-Smoking-Sunlight and his team implicitly to protect the group."

And, depending on just how bad things once both the archaeological team and SV-1 dialed back in, he'd make the call whether or not to send Bennett to retrofitting the trans-dimensional drive. He glanced briefly at Travis Oxford and then hurriedly back away. This Travis was just as likely to be as completely straight as his own world's had been.

If the situation off-world was as bad as it seemed, he'd have to choose. Save themselves, or save their extra-dimensional visitors?

Steve was walking idly around the room, decompressing his head from the chair as Bennett stared at him steadily before the physicist typed out, "Were you on Atlantis in 2008?"

Steve laughed. "I was at Pendleton in 2008 with an intelligence battalion, no freaking clue about the stargate. Home for Christmas when they landed in San Francisco Bay. Funny thing, my mom said it was aliens. Then again, she thinks everything is aliens. Then again, sometimes the crazy people are right."

Bennett considered and decided unilaterally that it was wrong for Blake to withhold the information. "Another reality's Dr. McKay invented a transdimensional drive. The drive failed in a burnout in our reality in orbit of M35-117 and myself and our McKay were able to analyze and schematic it. I can use that to improvise something that will make one and only one jump back to the next adjacent reality, yours."

"That's what you told him." Steve had it dawn why Warren had lied. Straight-up self-interest. "I'm going to have tell Admiral Oxford."

Bennett nodded and growled, not bothering to type as Steve left the room to head for the conference room. And once the yelling died down after his news was delivered, he'd look at fixing the long-range sensors. Vedas' POST data had said it was a crystal replacement. Damage may or may not have been liquid, the system couldn't determine that much for itself.

Akash took a second to look around after taking off his glasses and tucking them in the vest he wore. The view before him was a depressing one. The ruins of a ancient city that was at one time during it's prime would have been a hub for a intergalatical for trade and whatnot. The whole rubble pained him. As there would have been a chance to learn a great deal on Hindu Mythology form the living and the breathing people and the 'Gods' here. Learning in his own galaxy was still here, but the where differences were the things he wanted to know. It had been years but his thirst for knowledge was always there.

The smell of death lingered in the air and causing Akash to build up anger. The innocent lives were lost. Not being able to look at the view before him, he tuned to face Elin, bend to her line of vision, "Don't give up hope," he told her, "Give up on everything but that." He had given up hope years ago, but that moot to the point right now.

As Pratt mention the line of attack and where it came from, "They were here for something," he begain as the gate started to dail. The Troodons shifted to aim their guns, and lowered it once the word came that it was the base, "There has to be something here." He began to pace.

AU Lt Colonel/Doctor Akash Malhotra of Indian Army, stepped out from the event horizon, and reached into his vest pock for something, taking out a cigarette, he lit it up before taking the steps down, "You," he looked at his own counterpart and blew a puff, "are wasting your time."

"No!" Askah shook his head, "There has to be something or why destroy a city that hold no value to....to....them."

Shaking his head he joined the group, like his counterpart looked at Elin, "If this goofball believes, you guys have fifteen minutes to look around and," he looked at his twin, "you find nothing, I'll take all of you back. Clear?"

Travis called them Koopa Troopers, Nick wanted to call them Velicoraptors, they reminded him of Jurassic Park. But he didn't want to end up on the receiving end of the Trodons claws. Nick took a seat beside Travis and glanced at Admiral Oxford just to make sure that the whole "escape plan" had not been found out. 

Nick finally made it to the conference room, he had gotten word that their guests were some interesting characters, he did not know if that meant that they were interesting as in weird or what. Suntooth didn't explain it well. Harper walked into the conference room, "Sorry I am late Doctor." he said as he quickly took a seat at the far end of the table, "Had an accident to attend to." he added nodding to his bandaged hand. His attention was quickly drawn to the blonde haired man sitting at the table, actually the two blonde haired men. One he recognized as himself the other was a ghost. Except ghosts were not real. 

"Oh my god." Nick said as he stared at Travis trying to wrap his head around the man could possibly be sitting there when Nick knew he was dead. He had seen him die, well just before his death, before the Shiva was destroyed. "He's supposed to be dead." Harper looked to Jamie and then to Travis himself, totally ignoring his double sitting beside him, "You are supposed to be dead. " Yes, the last time he had seen Travis alive Nick had been dealing with a bad case of malnutrition and exhaustion, but now he was healthy, so he was not seeing things.

"He's alive and-." other him started to say, Harper cut him off,  "He died when we lost the Shiva, after rescuing several of us from that prison hell hole."  based on the reaction he got from himself, the news of their Travis's death had not been shared yet.

Stargate

Cooper had yet to take a trip thru the Stargate, so stepping into the pool of blue was a first for her, though what she saw on the other side was something she could have gone her life without seeing.  Like everyone else she stared in shock at the destruction, the silence pounding in her ears,  it all reminded her of something you would see after a severe storm or earthquake. Her eyes moved to the bodies scattered before the Stargate and she gasped when she saw several small child sized ones, "L'eterno riposo dona loro , o Signore , e lasciare che la luce perpetua risplendere su di loro. Riposino in pace." she quickly wispered under her breath. The people who died might have been worshipers of a different deity and from a different galaxy than her, but she still hoped they found peace wherever they went. 

Dr. Harper heard herself muttering in Italian as she moved past, Dr. Malhotra was speaking to Elin who had fallen to her knees, "We'll find something else." Harper told her as she gently took the woman by the elbow and pulled her to her feet, "Maybe there is something we missed." she added with a hopeful smile. Malhotra said not to give up hope, and they hadn't...they were just running very low on it. 

The Stargate activated and Lt. Col Mahotra stepped through,  much to the surprise of Cooper and the rest of the others. "If this goofball believes, you guys have fifteen minutes to look around and, you find nothing, I'll take all of you back. Clear?" Dr. Harper sighed and nodded, "Yes, Colonel, it is perfectly clear." she told him, sometimes the various military personal got on her nerves, they liked to make sure that everyone knew something that they already knew, just to make sure that they knew. Harper turned to Elin, "Where do you want us to look and what should it be for?" she asked.

Did?

Was the first thing to stick out from Warren's words for his counterpart. He didn't have to ask what the man meant by that. If anything he was betting that his AU was dead; somehow. At that he let his eyes traveled to Matt. Knowing well that this would hurt his brother regardless. This was the reality of working for SGC; death was not avoidable. Next mission could be the last for anyone stepping through the gate. Seeing the nod out of the man, Travis then watched Jamie's expression. He noted the struggle in the woman's eyes and understood the initial look he had seen.

"Well I hope I know as much as he did," Travis leaned back and looked at Warren, "Why don't you show me where I can be of help? Might be easier that way." And pursed his lips at the name that reached his ears; to stop himself from laughing out loud. Once the man was out of the room, Trav looked his brother, "What are we getting for helping them out?"

"Ticket home," Matt told him, "We are in another reality/universe, call it what you will."

"I gathered that from the koopa troopa's." He ran a hand over his jawline where the a growth of hair were evident, "Were you out of your mind by bringing us here?"

Return of Warren, only left an option for Matt to glare at his brother. Before schooling his face, "We will work on what we can while they do what they can. I suggest that we merge two ideas once both sides are ready afterwards." He hated to waste time.

"What's your current situation, Warren?" Travis asked as AU Nick arrived, facing the man he was about to give a nod when shocked outburst caught him off guard. Keeping a cool head, "So I gather, Mr Harper." He waved a hand towards Jamie, "Her reaction and Doctor Warren using the word did as in past tense. But I'm not this realities Travis. Glad to hear that he saved those who he could." But those who left behind would be the ones to grieve for years to come. He got to his feet when the AU Nick moved to attack his twin.

Jamie placed a hand on their Nick's shoulder, as her own composer would soon fail her, if the man kept up, "Nick," her voice was tight, "He is dead. He is not ours and never will be." They might be similar but they never going to be the same.

"I won't claim to understand cos I don't," the Colonel spoke, "If you two want to take this to somewhere more private, do so. Doctor Warren," the Delta member faced him, "your game plan, say in five minutes? I'll take few minutes with these two, so they are on top of their game. Mr Harper, lead the way."

"Completely forgiven, Nick." As his Harper reacted to Travis, Warren knew that feeling.

But he'd clamped down on his feelings about seeing any version of Steve again, and everybody else could do the same. "Some of the people among our visitors are a shock to all of us, Sergeant, but we have a situation and a job to do. The grief can wait."

Warren slid his own tablet across the table to let the Oxfords look at it. "Our current battle plan, as written by our Colonel Oxford, Major Sharp-Teeth as head of security, my military commander and the other servicemembers of SV-1. I've made some additions just immediately based on having a drone stock and the capabilities of Shiva, based off the schematics of our reality's. If you could look for any obvious differences of firepower or defenses in your ship?"

One of the rotating doors opened and Steve walked back in, keenly reminding Warren of the pain of that loss. "You don't have to 'withhold the truth' to get our help, Doctor. The transdimensional drive."

And Warren had that little bit more certainty of why Atlantis had booted Cory Bennett. "He told you. He wouldn't be able to build it as fast as he claims, Major, and I need him repairing that drone launch now. But yes, we have the capacity to re-construct the transdimensional drive to send your ship back to your reality, Cory's ego makes him think he could build it inside of a day, not fact."

Doctor Larsen surveyed the carnage before them. Alternate-universe Malhotra was right - why raze an entire planet to the ground unless you had a good reason? Was there something hidden on this world that could stop Nisumbha? Was there someone? Was this a political move, an act of terror to scare other worlds into allying with him? No matter what the reason, there had to be one, and Elin was damned sure she was going to find it.

“Loud and clear Colonel,” she replied to her own Malhotra. “We will be back at Gate by 1508.”

Henry came to the same conclusion as his Norwegian counter-part, and adjusted the straps on his vest so he could run without it bouncing around. “You heard the man,” he added. “We've got fifteen minutes to work out why this happened. Spread out and see what you find.” It was entirely possible that the planet was still hostile, and that whatever had caused all this damage was still lurking around. But sometimes, when the clock was ticking down, you just had to go for it.

Pratt dashed away from the Stargate, aiming for what looked like altar a couple of hundred meters north of the Stargate. Exhausted from the run, he tried to catch his breath as he began to study the structure. Even though it was dark overhead, the flickering fires of the city gave him enough light to see what he was he was doing. From first glance there was nothing out of the ordinary about the shrine; it was similar to many others he'd encountered before, nothing more than a place to leave offerings to the Devas gods. “See anything out of the ordinary?” Henry asked as others joined him.

Elin meanwhile headed east, toward a farm house that he been reduced to little more than a pile of ashes. On first glance he wasn't much left to look through, and the charred remains of the former occupants were encouragement enough to not stick around. Just as she was about to leave, the archaeologist spotted a book on the ground. The front and back cover were made of a thin metal-like substance, which appeared to have offered some protection for the pages inside from the fire. She pried the book open, and starred blankly at the pages. It was written in what looked to be a Devas script, but the dialect was unlike anything she had ever seen. “I need some help over here!”

Lily was still looking through some medical files, when she wanted to check up on Travis, maybe even release him if behaved himself, long enough for her to run some tests.

She came out of her office to find an empty bed, where Travis was supposed to be.

So he got tied of being stuck in that bed, while he recovers.

Lily tried to look for Travis on the Bridge first, but when she asked a few people passing in the corridor, she soon found out that Travis was headed for the Conference Room, so she turned around and headed for the Conference Room instead.

When Doctor Tuck finally arrived outside the Conference Room, she just went in and started looking for Travis, when she spotted him she, walked right over to him and said "And what do you think you are doing?? You're supposed to be recovering in Med Bay.." She said in a harsh tone, and she didn't even noticed the others in the room..

The tone of Jamie's voice made him regret jumping the gun so quickly, Isabelle would probably agree that the move had been stupid. "Sorry Jamie." he said quietly,  as Dr, Warren spoke to him he looked down the table and nodded, "Understood sir." he replied with a nodd. Looking back across the table he met his own eyes, he was about to say something to himself when a woman he didn't know entered the room and started in on Travis. 

His other self quickly stepped up, "Dr. Tuck Admiral Oxford sent Commander Oxford to bring us here." he said realzing the last time Tuck had seen Travis he and Nick where leaving for their field trip, aka "Travis escaping pt. 2". 
"He's fine, hasn't been overdoing it." his other self seemed more...jumpy. Not as sure how to properly handle everything going on, Harper couldn't help but wonder what other hims military background was, he suspected it wasn't like his, least not that much. Keeping his mouth shut as to not regret saying anything else he turned his attention back down the table and listened to what Dr. Warren was saying.

Conference Room

Reading over the plan that was done by his twin version. Travis understood the line of defense that was laid out. The army officer had more in depth understanding then he did. It was a careful made plan that worked around Shiva's firepower. Reading over that the AU Shiva was stocked with prior its destruction, Travis took a moment to go over what they had. Then looked at Matt. getting a go ahead, "This plan is awesome," he commented,"we have everything listed expect the number of warheads, which are dwindling fast. There also slight differences, more along the lines of advancement. From what I read, I'm correct to suspect that Asgard in your reality aren't dead. Consider yourself lucky."

While Travis spoke, "The transdimensional drive?" Matt asked, then faced Warren, "You wanted our help. It would have been recommended that you come clean. If you intended to withhold information, I'm going to withhold the ship." And nothing was going to top him from doing it. "I won't risk the lives of my men for hidden truths." From the corner of his saw Jamie take a step, and send her a glared warning.

"You like to come clean, you are free to do so." Matt told Warren, then faced Hamrick, "Major?"

Travis faced Tuck, "Light tasks Doc," He told her, "Take it easy." His hands over the helping them out were tied. He couldn't do anything till the Admiral deiced to give a green light.

Steve wasn't backing down. Really, it was becoming surprisingly emotionally easy to divide 'Vedas Expedition leader Dr. Warren' from 'Blake.' "Doctor Bennett told me that, apparently, the universe-hopping Daedalus that Atlantis encountered failed in this reality. They were able to study the drive and he can build it."

Warren looked between both Hamrick and Oxford. "But not within anything like the span of time we have available to us. Given time and resources Cory could build a limited one-hop version of the trans-dimensional drive and retrofit it into Shiva. But time and resources are something I have none of to spare until we're out of our current crisis, Admiral Oxford. And if you and your people refuse to join in, I can guarantee there will be nobody left alive here on Vedas to attempt the construction of the trans-dimensional drive."

Sharp-Teeth huffed out a grumbling growl from his place. His own humans would know he'd said, 'Doubt the Asura battle fleet are going to ignore you either, sir.'

As it turned out, the archaeology team hadn't need the fifteen minutes granted to them. Shortly after splitting up to explore the area around the Gate, Asura fighters had swooped down from orbit and opened fire. The team had scrambled from the strafing runs, with the few military personnel assigned to them returning fire as best they could. Everyone made it back through the Stargate in one piece, but it had been a brush with death that both Henry and Elin hoped was their last for the day.

“We still do not know why Nisumbha bombed planet to ashes!” Doctor Larsen exclaimed. Much like Henry, the Norwegian hadn't spent much time off-world, and she was still trying to process the mindless carnage that she'd bore witness to. If the planet had posed an obvious threat, while still being a horrible war crimes, it's bombing would have at least made sense. As it stood though, the act only served to further highlight the depravity of the warmongering Asura. The same fate no doubt awaiting this very base.

“The acts of the Asura rarely make sense in my own galaxy,” Henry noted. So far the Asura didn't seem to be enacting a higher plan or long term strategy, only random acts of violence. The presence of the expedition didn't seem to concern them, and the Devas didn't appear too concerned about ending the war quickly. It was a political situation unlike anything an off-world expedition had experienced.

The teams were beginning to depart the Gateroom were a base-wide alarm was active. Over the PA system, a technician announced the arrival of the Asura fleet.

The conversation went back and forth between Dr. Warren and Admiral Oxford; both men eloquently responses to the conversation. Least they were trying, the Admiral did not seem happy that Dr. Warren had withheld infomation and Warren did not seem too thrilled that Oxford was threatening to withhold the Shiva. 

Both Nicks sat in silence listening to their respected leaders, each siding with them for valid reason; one wanting to get back home and the other not wanting to get blasted off the face of the planet by an alien fleet. Nick glanced across the table to the other version of him, neither had spoken to each other since AU Nick's reaction to see Travis alive, they stared at each other for a moment, each coming to his own realization. "Dr. Warren, we all know we'd need a fleet of Shiva's to stop the Asurans, one ship isn't going to make a difference. It'd be like shooting a water gun at a forest fire." Nick hated to say that, but he felt like it was something they needed to address instead of dancing around.

"Then again, Sharpe-teeth is right, if and when the Asurans show up and learn that we once again have a battleship, it will probably be the first thing they go for." Harper sighed and ran his uninjured hand through his hair, he looked to himself again and got a shrug in return. Both Army Sergeants didn't know what to reccomend. They didn't make battle plans, they patched people up and helped them get better. AU Nick started to say something else but the Base alarm system started going off. They had company and not the nice kind who brought cookies. "Whatever negotiating or planning ya'll need to do it now." he added, his previous comment lost. They were running out of time.
