Personality:

Due to his youth, he can be a bit overconfident and stubborn in certain situations. He generally has been described as socially “abrupt,” but he would describe this personality trait as being more assertive rather than rude. In his personal past, he has rarely accepted comprise, but after the destruction of his home world on the other side of the Vedic galaxy, he swiftly realized he’s at the mercy of those more knowledgeable about the galaxy they live in. Despite his flaws, he is very protective and selfless. He has always been conscious of how privileged he is compared to other Aeternians, and thus, conducts himself in a manner that best gives back to those less fortunate. He only wants what’s best for what’s left of his people, even if that means stepping aside to let his people govern themselves or part their separate ways.

History:
Prince Aeto Ragnorok XII was born as the second son to the king and queen of Naeobi, a city state within the United Aeternis Commonwealth (UAC) on the planet Aeternis. Being only second in line to the throne, he was free to explore his passions more so than his older brother, Luto, who was forced to learn about government policy, ruling, and history. Aeto was always an adventurer, and so naturally, he always found himself exploring the rocky desert outside the city. Aeternis was a big planet with a lot of nature to explore between the city states. Somewhat begrudgingly, the king and queen allowed him to go on camping and hiking adventures, but only on the watch of the royal guard. 

During one of his adventures, he encountered an old hermit, a retired military commander of the United Aeternis Space Fleet (UASF). He told Aeto about all his adventures during the "space age" of the UAC. The old man's stories enticed Aeto to join the UASF. Aeto's parents did not support the decision as he reached legal age, but because they were too preoccupied with preparing his brother to rule, they left him to his own decisions. 

Aeto swiftly swept through the ranks at the UAC's military academy, where he dual concentrated in military reconnaissance and biology--all cadets were forced to dual major in both military and science concentrations. Due partially to his father's influence and Aeto's own achievements, he was awarded command of a newly commissioned UASF Reconnaissance Battlecruiser, Aenexa. Its sole mission was to seek out the nearest Ancient base that was listed in the ruined Ancient city ship database. 

As the Aenexa prepared for her maiden voyage, something went wrong. Within the ruined Ancient city ship, a piece of technology from the unknown aliens, whose ships littered the Aeternian moon, was brought aboard. It reacted with the Ancient's power core, creating a massive explosion that was big enough to not only destroy the small moon that the city ship had crashed on, but also destroy the Aeternian planet in a chain reaction. 

With only a few seconds warning, the Aenexa jumped into hyperspace just before the explosion. As soon as possible, the Aenexa returned to a space waste land of planetary debris. It was all gone. Alone, the reconnaissance battlecruiser sent out a distress call to any remaining Aeternian ships. Only five others joined the Aenexa, totaling six ships. Only six hundred individuals (100 per ship) of their species now survived.

Aeto, who lost everything except the ship he now commanded (partially just because of his father's influence), was devastated, but he forced himself to keep it together. He was in command now of the ship. Upon the arrival of the other five ships, the six commanders met, and it was decided that Prince Aeto would stand as figurehead for the Aeternian people for now with the console of the other ship commanders. To boost morale, they decided to continue with Aenexa's mission to head toward the Ancient outpost. 

Upon arriving at the outpost, they discover that it is occupied by the Vedas Expedition....

Bridge of the Aenexa
Somewhere in the Vedic Galaxy

"We don't have the resources to survive at the outpost, Your Highness. This is madness!" The voice was of Commander Jaeno of the UASF Naemil. She was a strong, tall female Aeternian, and her frustration was noticeable in her voice. Her fingers were clasped together and resting on the table as her eyes darted between the other commanders before shifting to Prince Aeto Ragnorok XII, the only remaining royalty of Aeternis. 

Aeto glared at her from across the table. Jaeno had been testing him for the past few days. She made it clear from day one of their pilgrimage that she disagreed with letting the young commander rule over all of them. To some degree, Aeto didn't blame her. In fact, he agreed; someone more experienced should be leading them, but that wasn't their culture. They needed a figurehead to act as ruler, someone who had claim to such leadership. A royal prince was as close as they had to that. While he didn't want to have a confrontation with her during their meeting, he knew this was a test of his own power and authority. They needed strong leadership, and if he was just going to be pushed around by someone who had their own agenda, then he failed as their leader. 

"Commander Jaeno." He said calmly before clearing his throat. His voice was young in comparison to these seasoned, gruff officers who sat near him. "Although our planet is now gone, that does not mean the UAC is gone." He sighed and stood up to pace. He often paced when he talked. Standing still was always mentally strenuous for him than moving around. Glancing straight back at her, he replied, "We need to get what's left of our people somewhere safe. The outpost stated in the ancestor's city ship archive provides that. We have a better chance of surviving there then on some random planet, where we have to start from scratch." In the typical sarcastic Aeto manner, he replied dryly, "But by all means, if you want to test that hypothesis, be my guest. Send us recruitment pamphlets to your new planet while you are at it." He rolled his eyes.

Another finally spoke up. It was Commander Haevee. "Jaeno, the outpost is only two weeks in hyperspace from..." His voice faltered. "....From Aeternis." None of them had fully processed the death of everyone they loved and the destruction of their home. Haevee continued, "Put bluntly, we have nothing to lose."

Commander Jaeno sat back in her seat and folded her arms. "Well, don't say I didn't tell you so." The corner of her lip curled in distaste as she quickly reached back down to the table to trace a circle with her claw. 

As much as Aeto hated to admit it, the stubborn fool that he was, she was right. They had no idea what they were getting into. Their Ancient city ship database only stated that a base was located on a planet in a distant sector of the Vedic galaxy, nothing more. 

Frustrated with the meeting, Aeto turned his back to the five other commanders to stare out into the blue hyperspace tunnel they traveled through. "Dismissed," he muttered. Without a word, the five other commanders left the table to head to their respective quarters. They would be transported to their respective battlecruisers within the hour once the small fleet of six ships jumped out of hyperspace for routine engine inspections. 

Aeto stood there staring into oblivion. Now alone, tears welled up in his eyes, but he fought back the urge to mourn the loss of his loved ones. He was in over his head, but he couldn't let his people down. Little did he know that he was in for even more bad news with the arrival of the Tau'ri unlocking an eons old war between two peoples the Aeternians were unaware of, the Asuras and Devas.
