Personality:
William is often thinking about the long-term potential circumstances, while at the same time he realizes that even the best laid plans are subject to change at any notice. Career military, he understands the chain of command is not afraid to leverage it to his advantage. He is a natural leader and is willing to take the center seat if need be. When in a leadership role, he feels delegation is the best method to get things done. Assign everyone as task and let them go to it. When challenged, William is likely to become argumentative, or alternatively show his disapproval through an icy gaze. William honors the traditional method of doing things, but at the same time enjoys finding new or unusual solutions to problems. Perspective to changes in a person’s habits or appearance.

History:
William was born and raised in Albany New York.
An accomplished athlete, William would often spend the summer months at the local pool. As he became a more experienced swimmer, he would assist with teaching the beginner swim classes. As the family lived less than 2 hours from the Belleayre Ski Center, during the ski season they would take repeated trips to the Center. In 1993, while at the ski resort, William was approached about becoming a junior member of the ski patrol. William accepted the position and would assist for the next two winters.
Upon graduation from high school in 1994 and not sure about college, William joined a local ambulance company as an EMT-Basic. John had followed his father’s footsteps and joined the Police Academy, but William was not interested in becoming a state trooper. William’s boss at the ambulance company, Ian Saunders, had been a PJ in the US Air Force, having transitioned into the private sector after the Persian Gulf War in the 1990’s. After a few months of working with William, Ian brought up the suggestion of becoming a PJ himself. After giving it some thought, William accepted the challenge and soon found himself on a plane to Lackland Air Force Base.
Service Record:
Upon successful completion of Basic Training, William embarked on the most intense 2 years of his life as he entered the PJ training course. The initial class of 75 was quickly whittled down to a core group of 12 who finished the course in spring of 1997. While he had joined the New York Air National Guard, William accepted a full time position as an Air Reserve Technician with the 106th Rescue Wing.
In 1998, during the attempted invasion of Earth by Apophis, William was selected to join one of the teams going through to the Alpha Site. This was all done secretly with those selected not learning of their ultimate destination until reaching the Cheyenne Mountain Complex (SGC). When the invasion was thwarted by SG-1, the teams were recalled back to Earth. After signing a nondisclosure agreement, William returned to the 106th and told never to mention the Stargate program.
As a member of the 106th, William was on standby during launches of the Space Shuttle. Should the crew need to bail out over the Atlantic Ocean, the 106th was tasked with search and rescue.
Aside from military operations, the 106th would often assist the United States Coast Guard with maritime rescue missions. This included everything from stranded fishing vessels, injured sailors/ fishermen and cruise ship passengers who suffered major injuries or suddenly fell ill.
William and others also would assist local authorities with search and rescue operations in the nearby Adirondack Mountains. In 1999 when JFK Jr’s airplane crashed into the water, William flew along on one of the search planes in case medical assistance was required.
After the attacks of 9-11, the 106th Rescue Wing was one of the first groups outside of NYC to arrive on scene. While many members of the 106th helped provide security throughout the city of New York, William and other fellow medics bolstered the city’s overwhelmed Emergency Medical Services.
In February 2004, William was temporarily assigned to the 31st Rescue Squadron based in Kadena Air Force Base, Japan. While stationed there, he assisted in the rescue of sailors from the Nimitz Carrier Group. The official story was a freak meteor strike, but William would later learn it was an attack by Anubis.
He returned to the States in August of 2004. In 2005, William deployed with the 106th to the Gulf Coast to assist with search and rescue as a result of Hurricane Katrina. William has been deployed for the War on Terrorism twice; once each to Iraq and Afghanistan to perform Combat Search and Rescue.
In late 2005, William and others helped with the quarantine stemming from the Ori Plaque, although like many they were given the cover story of a virulent strain of influenza.
His last major mission with the 106th was in October of 2012 when he assisted with relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy.
Stargate Program
As the Stargate program broadened, there was a need for expanded resources and manpower. As a PJ with the US Air Force, William was already a member of an elite group that made up the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). On top of that he was a highly trained and experienced combat medic with experience in SAR. It also helped that William already had basic knowledge of the Stargate Program. It was for these reasons and more, that in November 2012 William found himself leaving New York state for Colorado. For the first few months he served in the base infirmary and as a backup member of SG-12. In 2013, William was assigned to the Vedas Expedition.

“Tartaros was the last I remember, but the planet I’m taken to I never got the name of it....”
While the Colonel was receiving an update from the control room, William continued to keep an eye on the Scientist. She had calmed down a bit which was a hopeful sign, and while she was lucid she still appeared to be suffering from amnesia. As the Colonel got off the radio,William was going to ask him about Tartaros when the ground beneath them shook. Obviously concerned, the Colonel quickly left the shuttle. At first William thought it might be an earthquake, but as it continued the PJ reassessed the sensation. It felt less like an earthquake and more like thrust from a military jet. What it meant he did not know, but it did cause him to bring his rifle to a more accessible position.
“I have to get in there,”
William stepped aside to allow the scientist a clear path out of the shuttle.
“I've made it a policy not to argue with patients. But let me take point, just in case.”
Returning to the control room, William got quick update from nurse Ogawa.
“We've got hostiles inbound and the city has activated its engines.”
Setting down his pack, William couldn't help but chuckle at the situation.
“Alien slugs and cities capable of spaceflight, now there's something you don't see on the Air Force recruitment posters.”
