Fiona sat at her computer, finishing up another round of training with Aear. The feckless cat-man was beginning to make it on the Stargate, or so she believed. He'd managed to fly under the radar, and she was working on convincing Koren even more. She pushed her ponytail over her shoulder, and tapped on the keys. 

Ok, Aear, if you think you got this system, I suppose we can end for the day. Make sure to check your watch schedule. In between training missions, the team stood watches, a new, foregin idea to the young woman. A deep sigh escaped her lips as she pulled off her glasses, and slipped them into the pocket of the BDUs she wore. She stood up, with an idea. 

Let's go get a snack in the canteen. Fee turned about to grab her cardigan, and then led the way out of the comms room. She looked around-the hallway was fairly empty, and she nodded once to the guard outside the door to her office. Koren kept a steady stream of MPs near her and the medical staff, and Dr. Pratt, since they were mostly all civvies. After the young man nodded back, she smiled, but headed for the cafeteria. She wanted a cookie, or maybe a brownie, and some tea. She longed for some flea biscuits, but the choc chip cookies sufficed. She kept one eye on Aear, who seemed a little quiet. She was hoping she could get it out of him whilst they ate.

Ok, Aear, if you think you got this system, I suppose we can end for the day. Make sure to check your watch schedule.

"Yeah I know, babysittting." Said Aear as he spun on his chair. He didn't much like the idea but it wasn't like he had anything better to do.

Let's go get a snack in the canteen.

"Food!?" Said Aear his face lighting up. "Why didn't you say something earlier?" He added jumping up and cartwheeling out the door, he would have gone right into the wall if he hadn't spun on one foot and done an odd march down the corridor. He ignored the MPs, he hadn't been introduced to him and they kept to themselves. Maybe he'd pull a prank on them later but he had more important things such as food to entertain himself with.

Fee just shook her head. How many times did she have to tell Aear not to spin around in the chairs? He was going to break the hydraulics.

Yeah I know, babysittting.... Fee shrugged.

I bloody hate it, too, but at least it's better than field days. Fee liked clean things, but she didn't appreciate the military's version of chore day, no siree.

The two headed out, Aear full of a sudden energy she just didn't feel. Fiona was having a bit of trouble adjusting to life a few billion lightyears away from Earth, and while she usually lived simply, it was hard to remember that she couldn't just pick up the phone and dial Boston, nor could she email her da.

Food!?" Said Aear his face lighting up. "Why didn't you say something earlier?"

Well, I wasn't hungry before. Man, I am gumming for some one and one and a pint of plain. I suppose that teatime will have to suffice, though, she said as they entered the lunchroom. She made her way to the line, and after scanning the posted offerings, decided on an apple and some curdled cream with a cup of hot lemon tea. She waited on the queue, then paid, and waited for Aear. She pointed to a table near the back.

Aear entered the lunchroom and watched for a moment as Fee got her food. It didn't seem to be all that much but maybe Earth food was more filling. Aear decided to grab some Meowtian food from dimensional storage, giving the server an I'm watching you gesture before pulling out what could only be described as a large bowel of ramen and taking it to the back table Fee had mentioned.

Meanwhile Blue was looking for a snack, she wandered in with Miki floating in front of her as she picked out a banana, a packet of beef jerky and an energy bar. She paid, glanced around quickly and headed over to the same table. She hadn't noticed Fee pointing out the table beforehand in fact she only noticed the pair when they all sat down together.

how's that?"

"Eh?" Mumbled Blue looking up at Fiona as Miki floated down to the table.

how's that? Fee startled, almost choking on her tea. She coughed as she looked up. Blueberry Yagamai. She smiled a little, and then ducked her head again. SHe hated meeting new people. At least it wasn't a guy.

Fee glanced around. Koren was a table nearby, but he was with other pilots, and Fiala was sitting with command. Not good choices for a girl who liked the perks of being a wallflower. She poked at her food, and made a face at the curdled cream. It was the kind with pineapple, and Fee hated pineapple. She looked up to Aear.

Anyone fancy some clotted cream? This one has pineapple.

(Sorry so short...not really sure what is going on...)

Aear stared at the food the two girls sitting at him were planning on eating. Was it just him or did all girls eat barely anything at all? At least he didn't have to keep bugging Kana to eat as well as Chiquita. "Why do they think their so short?" Thought Aear as he put his hands together in preparation for starting his meal.

"Itadakimasu!" He called out happily followed by a mumbled version from Blueberry. She suddenly looked up as she realised what just happened. As far as she was aware she was the only Japanese member of staff in the Vedas expedition. "Aear-san!? Nanishiteruno?" She said realising just who was sitting at the table. The catboy she had met when she was in high school, what in the world was he doing here. He looked exactly the same as the last time they had met.

"Just winding Fee-Fee up." grinned Aear. A pleasant surprise to see an old friend on this strange world. Quite a bit taller and older than when they last met but it had been 9 halves. Another reminder of his inability to age.

Anyone fancy some clotted cream? This one has pineapple.

"Clotted cream?" asked Aear as he considered Fee's offer. He glanced over at the rest of Fee's food before he spoke again. "Sorry Fee-Fee, you'll have to eat it." Normally Aear would jump at the opportunity to try new foods but he felt that Fee needed to eat more and didn't want to take away from her already small meal.

Fee was a little startled at the interaction.

Itadakimasu! She sighed.

Bloody hell, Aear...Fee shook her head, and bit into her apple.

The other woman spoke.

"Aear-san!? Nanishiteruno.. Fee sighed. She wished she knew what they were saying. Japanese was one of the few languages that Fee didn't speak or understand.

Just winding Fee-Fee up.... And doing a right proper job at it. She was going to leave in a minute.

He finds that funny, actually. Fee did not. She finished her apple, and tucked the core neatly into a napkin for disposal. She should get something else since she wasn't going to eat her cream and pineapple.

Clotted cream?...Sorry Fee-Fee, you'll have to eat it. She gave him a look, and wrinkled her nose.

Bloody wrong you are. It's got Pineapple. I dislike pineapple. It's too tart. They're not native to Ireland and i never got a tongue for them. I'll be back. I'll get something else. Maybe Jacques will fancy it. I just assumed you might...being a cat and all. Now it was her turn to wind him up. She stood, and got a muffin, returning quickly to the table. She spoke to the woman across from Aear.

[Blueberry Yagami]

Blue stared at the two of them, it was a little strange seeing Aear get on well with someone else, when she had known him before he had been hiding away from people and only interacting with her. She looked at the clotted cream for a few moments, curious as she hadn't tried it before. Cream and pineapple? She imagined it would be sweet, Aear had given her something of a sweet tooth with his demands the last time they were together. Blueberry pointed at the dish and then at herself hoping that Miss Maccafferty would alllow her to try it.

By the by, I am Miss Fiona Maccafferty, of NASA. I run the comms systems, and any and all other technical bits you might need.

Blue pointed at herself again. "Blueberry Yagami. JAXA. Data analysis." She said simply.

"What my mother is trying to say is that we are the last minute addition from the Japanese Aerospace eXploration Agency. My mother will be assisting with data analysis as well as any other technical tasks you may need of us." Said Miki with just a hint of exasperation.

"You know if you want Blue to use her words then don't speak for her. Eventually she'll have to. I could always repeat the pudding exercise."

"Was my pudding." Said Blue glaring at Aear a little. "Then why didn't you say anything?"

Fiona looked up as Blueberry pointed to her clotted cream and then to herself. Fee pushed it towards her with a smile.

"Arigatou gozaimasu." Said Blue thanking Fee before digging in. The tartness of the pineapple was an odd contrast to the clotted cream but enjoyable.

Aear gave Fee one of the looks he always gave Chiquita. "I didn't want to take it since you don't have much to eat." He said simply.

Pleased to meet you...what is she talking about, Aear?

"That's Miki, she's the AI me and Blue built when Blue was still in school. And if you want Blue to speak for herself then stop speaking for her." Said Aear motioning to the tablet that spoke. "I could always repeat the pudding exercise?" he added giving Blue a mischievous grin.

"That was my pudding!"

"But you didn't SAY anything."

Fee was now a little confused. She just nodded at Blue when the woman took her cream and bit in.

Arigatou gozaimasu." Fee just nodded. Her tiny knowledge of Japanese let her know that Blue had just thanked her.

Of course. I hope you enjoy it... Someone should. Pineapple made Fee's stomach hurt and sometimes gave her gas.

Aear spoke to her.

No one eats a lot at teatime. It's meant to be a snack, not a meal. I shall eat dinner later. Perhaps with Koren or Fiala. SHe just sighed as she watched the rest of the interaction between Aear and Blue.

"Yes well you wonder why the three of you are so short and flat-chested." Said Aear before he was struck by a realisation. "Wait Yagami!" he exclaimed half jumping out of his seat. "That's what you said right!? Your family name is Yagami."

Blue just looked between Fiona and Aear in shock. After a minute she pointed at herself. "Watashi...? Hai..."

Aear reseated himself and ate another mouthful of his ramen. "So what's your fathers name?"

Again Blue looked to Fiona for help confused by the line of questioning. The name is Ryohei Yagami. Answered Miki. Aear just nodded at this and continued with his ramen.

Fee turned to Blue, and looked at her directly.

I've never been to Japan. What is it like?

"They like trains." Began Aear awnsereing for Blue. They have lots of them, some of them get around pretty quickly but their not exactly fast. They have this one train with a giant doll of a li-er small girl and it goes right under her skirt. And they have dancing hamsters...

"Aear-san! That was on TV!" Interrupted Blue.

She polished off her muffin as Aear and Blue went back and forth, and then Aear answered her question.

Fiona looked witheringly at Aear.

You still need to eat more.... She sighed.

You sound like me da. And Koren. I eat PLENTY. More than you, most likely, I just spread it throughout the day. And I don't count calories. I am just small. Me mum didn't have quality medical care when I was in the womb, you see. Fee tried to explain. Why did Aear care so much, anyway? If she withered away and were blown off by the wind like Mary Poppins, it meant full access to the comms for him. Curious.

Well, good on ye, Blue, he needs looking after. When we return, if Aear comes back to Tau'ri with us, I 'spect to find him a sitter. She laughed a little.
