History:
Katherine Anastasia Marie Harris was born on May 6, 1978, in Perry, Georgia. Her mother was a librarian and her father was the owner of the local repair shop; she was the middle child of nine kids, she had five older brothers and three younger sisters. Growing up she spent more time in her dad's shop than any of the Harris kids; her brothers were busy chasing rabbits and blowing up hot wheels and her sisters were more interested in how many time they could dress up Barbie. Kata went thru school like any other child; everything came to her with ease, she was always interested in sciences, yet she hated math.
When she was in her second year of high school her grandfather died; he and Kata had been close, when she was younger she would spend hours following him around his farm listening to stories of his time in the Navy, it was at his funeral that she began to get interested in the military. Two Years later she graduated high school, she didn't delay in signing up for AF ROTC at the University of Georgia, she soon graduated with a degree in Aerospace Studies. While in college Kata was able to start on her flight training, during her senior year she received her Civilians Pilots license, with her high score on the AFOQT the Air Force was quick to send her to more extensive Pilot training. She attended flight school at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi, one year and six months later she walked across the stage and received her set of wings.
Her first real assignment was at Morón Air Base in Spain, she was a member of the 496th Air Base Squadron, mainly running exercises out over the Mediterranean and keeping a eye on things in the middle east. She was overseas for two years before she was transferred back to the States. Over the next five years Kata went everywhere from England, France, Spain and even Turkey, she once spent six months on a Aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf keeping a eye on a dispute in the Middle East.
After three years of flying, she finally used up all her vacation time and headed home, three months of vacation and spending time with the family. Everything seemed perfect, her parents enjoyed having her home and she was able to meet the newest editions to the family One afternoon Kata and her father James were coming home from the hardware store, Kata was driving. On their way home a drunk driver ran the red light and t-boned the car that Kata and her father was in. Jim Harris was killed instantly, Kata was thrown from the car but survived. She awoke two days later in a hospital, her worse injury was a broken wrist and several cuts and bruises.
She spent the rest of her time off burying her father and making sure she would be able to go back to her job. She passed the physical and psych test, she was reassigned from the 469th to the 23rd Wing 'Flying Tigers', based out of Pope AFB, North Carolina. She spent her time flying F-16's and running training exercises.Over the next few months her fellow squad mates were sent to new posts, and for a while it seemed like everyone but her was going somewhere. It would be another few months before anything would happen, and when it did it came in the form of a high ranking Air Force Officer and a man in a suit. They asked her the normal security questions, some that seemed rather odd, but when was it in the military's plan to be normal? After a few more questions and inquiries, she was asked if she would be interested in being a part of a group going on a expedition, the group was a mix of civilian and military personal from several countries. They called this expedition "The Atlantis Project", and told Kata she would find out more if she decided to join it. After realizing the men were completely serious she decided to agree to be apart of this "expedition". What she didn't know is that it was a trip that would take her far from earth.
Her time on Atlantis was more than she could ask for, she saw and experienced things beyond her imagination. It was during her time on the city she was able to try flying in space for the first time, her ability as a pilot came in handy when the Wraith decided to attack the city. At first the outcome of what now was known as "The Seige of Atlantis" was grim, but lucky for the expedition the Daedalus arrived and helped out. She stayed on with the Atlantis Expedition for another four years, before finally returning to Earth for some long needed leave. Harris fully expected to rejoin the Atlantis Expedition but was reassigned to the Delta Expedition, under the command of Colonel Loveridge. She wast with the Delta expedition for only a short while before suddenly being told one day by her superiors that she was being reassigned to the Vedas Expedition. She was selected due to her now rather extensive time in the Stargate Progam, the Vedas Expedition would prove to be the most challenging assignment she has had to date.

Role Play Sample:
Summer 2006:
It was a hot night, sweat rolled down her back, but she didn't mind, after living all her life in the sticky humidity that was know as a Southern Summer she learn to deal with the it. It was a comfort; even though Moody was only a few miles away, nothing compared to being home with her family. The worm screen door creaked, as someone walked out unto the porch, Kata didn't look over from where she sat on the porch swing, she kept staring out into the yard, not to far off in the distance she could see the heat lightening, flashing every so often like runway lights on a dark night. "Your father would be so proud of you, you know that right?" her mother Amelia slowly walked across the porch to the railing, "We are all proud of you," she added, she looked out into the growing darkness.
Kata smiled and stood to go stand beside her mother, "Ya'll raised me.... all of us well," she replied leaning against the rail like her mother. The older woman shrugged, silence filled the space between the two for a couple of minutes, muted thunder sounded from a few miles away. "Looks like anotha’ storm tonight," her mother said quietly Kata smiled nodded, "That's one thing I'll miss about this place, summers hot and winters not so bad."
"I'm sure the weather is nice in Colorado," her mother said with a smile, still looking out into the yard, "Your father took me there once, before the boys were born, the mountains were pretty," Kata smiled, even though she had told her mother about where she had been, the woman hardly ever spoke about it. "It's pretty, nice view of the sky,"
Her mother reached over and placed her hand on Kata's arm, for a woman her age she sure had a grip, "When you first left for.. Colorado," she gave Kata a look as to make sure she knew where she was talking about, "I knew you would come home, ya'll always do, no matter how far you go,"
Amelia's grip on Kata's arm tightened, "You will be ok…." her was voice firm, Kata recognized the tone she was using and quickly nodded, "I'll try," Somehow those worlds seemed to appease her mother, because her grip on her arm loosened. "Good," her mother smiled and smoothed the front of her dress, "Now would you like me to pack some of the leftovers from tonight, Meg said she didn't want to take the chicken home, and if you don't take it then the boys will eat it, and I don't know what type of food they have where ever your going".
That was typical of her mother, always worried about what someone eats, but what could she expect of a mother of four who enjoys cooking. "I don't think they will allow fried chicken and cream corn on the plane, let the boys take it, Luke and Liam are growing so fast they will need it," she told her as a bolt of lighting cut across the darkening sky. A cool breeze blew over the two women where they stood: the rain was about to come. Kata sensed her mothers posture stiffen, she was never one to let her children just go off with out her knowing, Kata new she wasn't happy about her new assignment, but she wouldn't say anything. Kata kept staring out into the darkness, her eyes watching the lightening each time it lit up the sky.
She had once flown thru a storm to get her plane back to base, when she hit the tarmac it had started raining so hard she had to wait out the storm in the cockpit, hoping lightening didn't hit her craft. A soft hand gently covered hers: "You promise to stay safe?" her mother whispered, Kata fought the urge to ask why she worried after all these years? She had been across the Galaxy and back. But she didn't, it was better to keep those kinds of thoughts to herself when it came to things that troubled your mother, Kata squeezed the veiny hand, "You know I can't make promises, but you can have my word I will do my best."
Her mother just nodded before turning and heading back inside. Then it was only Kata again, thunder rumbled across the land, seconds later the first drops of rain started hitting the tin roof, she went back to the swing, sat down and watched the rain come.
