Matt looked between the two commandments then eyed Bobby with confusion in his eyes. They were talking like it was an everyday thing for them, perhaps it was. Listening to Telion, he nodded. Of course, no commander would be happy to lose him men to anything, even if was another project."Home is home," he replied just as simply, before raising his eyebrow at the comment on 'family business'.

"I didn't realise that SGC was meant to be family business. But I admit to Armed Forces being a family thou." To Matt's trained eye, he noted that his cousin was still staring at the gate. Shaking his head, he rapped the Captain's head - hard. "Sleeping beauty, you with us?"

The colliding of the hand to the head snapped him out of his zoning, yet he was still listening, "I'm still half expecting this to be Trav's prank. I swear he must be hiding somewhere, Cuz." Facing the lieutenant, after hearing the response to Law's question, "How long have you been with this program altogether?" Oh he was going to come with a good way of getting back to that horse faced Army Officer for sure. Even for just heck of it.

He was mildly surprise at the envelope that was passed on or given to him, while hearing Bobby's words. Those two would in the ring all their lives beating each other up that was an option. The words were quite bold at the amount of clearance needed for this and whose eyes they were meant for, "Shouldn't you be giving this to Davis?" he asked while he tore the side of it and let the paper slip out into his waiting hand. Still the layout of the whole of the SGC was new to him. Being recruited for a high clearance program - whether he believed if or not - was well puzzling. He didn't think honour would be the right word yet.

Opening the piece of paper he read it's contents, then looked at the gate again then at the lieutenant who next to the other Oxford and sighed, "Space battles? Is this letter letting me that that there are birds that fly in space!!" And the LT, he was speaking to was to lead a group should they have space teams or combats. And if wasn't even signed by Delta's CO or XO, but rather by LT Colonel Kimberley McKinnon the commander of the freaking flying squad. But he had wonder what other surprises waited them when they reached this new galaxy. The idea still made his head spin.

Gabriel looked out the opened door as the helicopter speed pass the US landscape. He watched the buildings, landscape and people fly past as the pilot made haste to his classified destination. He sighed and looked back at the file with his orders and a description of his new assignment. To only think just last week he was in the middle east routing terrorist and now he was skimming the US countryside on his way to actually see an alien device and go to an alien galaxy. The first time he had heard that he had told the US general he had to stay away from the alcohol but as if to prove his claims the man had somehow, Gabe still didn't understand how though, beamed him up to a space ship. Gabe had never been one to believe things at first sight but that was something that was difficult if not impossible to fake and so he had agreed to the assignment and then was shipped off straight away.  "20 mikes out corporal" the helicopter co pilot said with a thumbs up to him, "Thanks" Gabe said back with a small smile and sat back.

After having reported in Gabe had been given his liberty to do anything he liked but he had to stay on base. That suited him as he was starving. He had arrived in the US early that morning and then was rushed off with only enough time to get a bottle of water and a small cake. So as he arrived in the mess he grabbed a plate and put on a few different things. He then grabbed a coffee and sat down to enjoy some food.

"I'm still half expecting this to be Trav's prank. I swear he must be hiding somewhere, Cuz."

Marah visibly shivered at the mention of Travis's name, as she and Travis had once actually on friendly terms until both she and her best friend Pooja had been taking captives and then the man just never seam to trust them again. But even though these two men were Oxfords too, they seamed different to her. Maybe they were different or maybe they just didn't know that little fact yet, she privately hoped it was the first.

"How long have you been with this program altogether?"

She waited till Koren had finished and then added to answer, "Sir it's all in my record. Flying F-302's, then Atlantis site and then Delta for 4 years" she added with a smirk at the next question they asked.

"Space battles? Is this letter letting me that that there are birds that fly in space!!"

Marah stood he full height at this and smiled "Yes sir, The F-302 is our fighter and we have a few Deep Space Cruisers out there too. Actually I was hoping to take you up to one but none are in orbit at this time" she said to the men.

"How long have you been with this program altogether?" came the question as he was handing over the envelope.

"8 years, sirs," Koren replied, a proud smile crossing his face, "And you're correct in assuming I've never been promoted here, but... well, in my experience, promotions happen because of necessity, not necessarily because of exemplary action. If you were chosen to work the Stargate program, they know you're exemplary, sirs, and thats the least they expect out of you. Marah?" He said, giving his fellow Lieutenant a chance to answer.

"Sir it's all in my record. Flying F-302's, then Atlantis site and then Delta for 4 years" she added.

Suddenly the Admirals face twisted into a confused, exacerbated look. It was clear he thought somebody was pulling his leg, "Space battles? Is this letter letting me that that there are birds that fly in space!!"

Marah stood he full height at this and smiled "Yes sir, The F-302 is our fighter and we have a few Deep Space Cruisers out there too. Actually I was hoping to take you up to one but none are in orbit at this time" she said to the men.

Koren continued the explanation, "I've been flying the F-302 since the start of my assignment to the SG program, sirs, until this assignment. I'm guessing due to your question that that envelope is transfer orders from my previous superior, Lieutenant Colonel McKinnon, correct? Pardon my intrusiveness, sir, but is there anything that in the transfer that I would need to know before we ship out tomorrow?" Koren had no idea how long he needed to prepare for the next mission, but if his orders were big, he'd need more time than he realistically had.

To be completely honest, Koren was a little unsettled at how much the Admiral did not know. It was clear to Koren that these men had been brought here sight unseen and were going to have to absorb 15 years of field reports and technological knowhow in the span of 48 hours. Hopefully they were not the prideful type, because these men were going to need a lot of suggestions on the best way to handle the unique situations the Stargate teams got into. Koren supposed that was why Marah and him were assigned to the team; to be the veteran voices of reason, but that again puzzled Koren, for neither of them were of any rank to do so; most of the military personnel that were going to be assigned to the expedition would most likely have higher ranks than he and Marah.

It was becoming clear to Koren that not all the cards had played out yet in this wild adventure, but it sure as heck was feeling like one of the SGC's crazy ideas right about now.

At the same time, Liam had finished going over his packet and was now getting his gear ready.  Shadow was next to him as he did that, watching his handler closely as he packed up.  Liam looked over to him and smiled a bit as he worked.  It was clear that he was looking forward to his first mission with the SG team that he would be on.  Tiffany was feeling the same way as she packed up as well.  As he got what he needed, Liam made sure he got Shadow's vest and leash set aside before checking his side arm.

Down the hall, Sadie went back to the medical bay, knowing that she would not be on one the team.  She wasn't upset about it, which her CO noticed when she came back in.  Sadie got right back to work as if nothing happened.  Her CO didn't say anything and just let her work.  While working, Sadie thought about what might happen to Liam while he was on mission.  "No, no.....I can't think like that.....Liam is a strong willed and resourceful man, he will come back."  she said to herself while sitting there.

"That dial in should have brought a few experdition members though if you would lke to see how there getting on and try and pull them back in the room."

Calmara nodded as he pushed his chair out and started for the stairway. "Sir, Could do with a leg stretch. However short it may be." He walked briskly down the stairway pausing about halfway down as the sight of another familier face caused a grin to cross his face, another one stick jockey once assigned to Delta, but first he addressed what he trusted were now the ranking officers of the experdition, so far few who had been introduced to the stargate had turned down the offer to paricipate. "Admiral, Captain, I trust your minds are suitably blown. But we have a few more details to fill you in on if you'd like to come back upstairs." Directing his attention to the pair from Delta, "Lieutanants likewise initial briefing is about to start, we could do with you asap." Having said his piece he turned and bounded back up the stairs. The lack of four people was hard to miss, the air force enlisted man shook his head and shrugged, indicating to he'd go and round them back up.

Opening up the door Calmara noted the Sergeant packing up, the file open, fixed him with a slightly stern look. "and you were dismissed when? briefing hadn't even begun, get yourself back in there. Considering your likely to be keeping an Admiral waiting, among others i'd get a move on Sergeant."

Another level , another part of the base another person to round up. He glanced round until he caught sight of Sgt. Lexington of to one side. Walking briskly over and with a firm tone. Sergeant you were dismissed when? You were called there to be briefed for a new experdition, that happens on our timetable not yours, now you can sit here and work out of the SGC infirmary or you can fall in and find out whats what. Your choice." Having said his piece he turned and walk out of the door, making for the elevator.

Just as Koren proposed that question, another familiar face from Delta entered the room and Koren couldn't help tearing up a bit, "Calmara..." Koren said under his breath; the team was getting back together. This meant more than just a happy reunion, but also that the SGC had found their work more than satisfactory, but so commendable that they kept many of them together for this assignment. Koren and Calmara's eyes locked for a second they both grinned; what a blessing it would be to have so many already trusted members of the Stargate program on the team, though, he thought, they'd have to be careful not to be too clicky. But at the same time, the new members would still have to prove themselves capable of handling an off-world assignment, whatever it was.

"Admiral, Captain," Calmara said, addressing his new superiors, "I trust your minds are suitably blown. But we have a few more details to fill you in on if you'd like to come back upstairs." Directing his attention to Koren and Marah, "Lieutenants, likewise; initial briefing is about to start. We could do with you asap."

"Thank you, Master Sergeant. We'll be up shortly." With that, Calmara turned and bounded back up the stairs. Koren was quick to follow, entering the briefing room and looking around for possibly more familiar faces.

This assignment is turning out better than I thought

Liam looked up when he heard that, realizing what he had done.  "On my way sir"  he said in reply before heading out quickly and to the briefing room.  Good one Liam, real smooth  he said to himself as he headed down the hall, file in hand.  His only hope was that he didn't miss much.  Liam soon got into the room, noticing that it hadn't started yet.  Then again  he said to himself as he stood there.  Liam kept the file close to himself at the same time, forgetting about his misstep.  Liam looked around the room as he waited for the others.  The room reminded him of the isolation rooms that he had been in for missions when he was with his SF team.  The last mission he went on was one to Eastern Europe to rescue a group of mission workers who got caught up in a conflict there.

Liam continued to stand along the side of the room as he waited for the others to arrive, thinking of Sadie at the same time.  He found himself hoping that she would be on this expedition, but it wasn't his call to make.

He looked at the two and nodded, it seemed this was a real deal with everything. the gate, the letter, the ...whatever they just had seen. Sighing he folded the paper and pocketed it, and listened to the more information he needed to absorb, but felt shocked at Law's words, "Maybe some other time, Law."

Space trips....but right now he needed a drink.

"Colonel McKinnon states, you are to take a lead of one set of group of these F-302's as you call them. When a team is assembled."

Turning when James's voice reached. Suitably blown was very underrated for the two of them, "Is it me or just suitably blown does little justice to how I'm feeling?" he asked the group?

"We just have been thrown into this like not even half an hour ago," Bobby mumbled, "Suitably blown, my a$$."

"More details?" Matt wondered what more was left; and faced Bobby, "Please tell me you have JD in your suitcase?" then patted his brother's shoulder and placed his feet on the first stair, "Please!" then he climbed the spiraled ladder leading to the briefing room.

Shaking his head, Bobby looked Law, "Lead the way,"

Arriving Matt looked at Paul, "You really aren't pulling our legs are you?" he asked.

With a quick chuckle, Paul shook his head, "No sir," he confirmed, "Stargate is real as it can get. You and Captain Oxford are last pair who be offered this Project. Before you two there were at least 5 pairs who declined on the bases that they refuse to believe it."

Hearing Paul's words Bobby blinked, now that was loaded, and the weight of this was on their shoulders, crap. His gazed landed on Matt and shrugged at the silent question. He didn't want to leave his kid behind, but he went where orders took him or them. How did most do it? By leaving their kid or kids behind. His uncle, father, even Matt and Si.

Liam looked up when he heard the voices in the hallway.  He stood up, the file at his side at the same time while watching who was coming.  He watched the two men that had arrived, not saying anything to them as he stood there, it was clear to him that their conversation was important and it wasn't wise for him to interrupt.  Seeing that they didn't notice him, Liam relaxed his stance, but didn't sit down.

Liam looked over the hand out again as he stood there, looking over for anything that he might have missed.  At the same time, Sadie had finished her work and headed back to her room in the barracks section.  Once there, she laid down on the bed and looked at the ceiling.  At the same time, she woundered if she would be on the SG team with Liam.

Returning to his chair next to the pair of file boxes, Calmara looked from one to the other as they processed all the information that had just been thrown at them. He tried to think back to his recruitment, and was sure he had a similar disbelief in what he was told at first. Add in the fact this pair were being asked to lead this expedition, Calmara realized a level of patience was needed. "Sirs I know this is a lot to take in, your probably doing a risk benefit assessment in your heads right now. Take it from someone who's be apart of this for twelve years, the gains both tangible and in experience far out way any risk or sacrifice that might be involved."

"We've selected groups from the Delta and Atlantis experditions as well as from the SGC to provide a level of experance. But it's New outlooks, new ways of thinking, new ways of doing things, from both military and civilians that are recruited for these expeditions that make them work." Calmara added in an effort to convince the pair and tue other new personnel that had been brought in and were currently scatered around the room no doubt trying to take in what this assingnment meant. "Can you tell I've had plenty of practice with that speech." He added with a slight grin.

Koren listened to Calmara speak to his new superiors; he was being very candid and very thorough, but Koren could tell that the Oxfords would need more convincing. Stepping forward, hands in his pockets, Koren said "It's your new eyes, your new approaches that will make this command a success. We need minds like yours, minds untainted by previous experiences through the Stargate, to guide us to level-headed, unbiased decisions.

Koren looked between the two men, "And if you're worried about your safety, let me assure you-" He looked around the room, making eye contact with all of the Stargate veterans, "-I can't speak for myself, but these are some of the best soldiers the SGC has to offer." Koren locked eyes with the Admiral and nodded in respect, "You're in good hands."

Stepping back and taking his place against the glass window behind him, Koren looked on as the others conversed more. Koren hoped he had helped convinced what was quite apparently the SGC's last candidates for his new expedition's leaders. It was only now that Koren realized that his 6 month-long training with other SG teams had chiefly been because of the SGC's inability to find new leaders for the expedition. Koren's stake in this was now as high as the SGC's; he highly doubted he'd be transferred back to Delta if they were unable to find superiors for Vedas.

Koren needed this to work

Liam listened as James gave his speech, hearing his comment at the end, he fought the urge to make a comment about it.  The comment that was made about risk assessment wasn't to far off......he had been doing that ever since he arrived at Stargate Command.  Liam continued to listen to James as he spoke, taking in his comment about experience.  Something we all need  Liam said to himself as he stood there with the others while continuing to listen to what James had to say.

Tiffany was doing the same thing as she listened to James, standing not to far away from Liam.  She was having the same thoughts that James was having about all of this, but knew that in the long run it would help her out.  Liam glanced over to her, then looked back at James, wondering what he was going to tell them next.

    Fiala followed her orders, sitting down at the table getting her self comfy and ready to do some filing of transfers . She may of looked like a soulless shell, with out hates or likes but that was far from the truth as on the inside Fiala was bored as hell and getting ready for her breaking point to show . She may not of been the highest of rank, but she had been part of the lower ranks helping with the mission and this was her price . 
 Fiala's taught's raced to herself , Not more files and how come its me that has to do this, why can't they get some of those army book worms to do this paper filing and let me free . Maybe I could do... No I don't think there any way I'm getting out of this . Why me, maybe there doing this on purpose . I wonder what Zdenka is doing now, I wonder when she will get the that letter and .. 
    Fiala came back to the real world as new additions entered the room . She couldn't help but wonder if all there equipment had been checked and properly . Last time had been LT Kelly and she had let a dog through . She still could't understand why on Earth a dog but hey that was her choice .
    Fiala kept her straight emotionless face and let her mind work on its on accord .

Matt sighed as the words came, "I was more thinking along the lines that Bob and I needed our heads examined by a shrink. Risk assessment is a long way off Serge." And glanced at Bobby for some guide on this and failed to realise that both were in the boat. It was Telion's voice that has both of them turning their heads at him.

But Bobby chuckled at the words, "Safety isn't the issue here. We both can hold on our own. Yet, we just might see more," he waved his hands in the general direction of the gate, "out their to believe it. I go, where he goes." His lips kicked in as Matt rose an eyebrow, "You need someone to pick your butt when it falls." His eyes held humour.

"You want....-" Matt trailed off.

"Check this out. Other than losing the rest of our sanity, we don't have anything else to lose, right?" The Guards Officer reasoned, "this can't any worse than the bar fights we have endured or pranks out of Horse face over the years."

Worse was just what he was worried about as he threw his hands in defeat at Bobby's reasons. He hated to admit but Bob here was right. "Looks like you have your expedition leaders."

"Well then Project Vedas is a go," Paul was impressed. Travis had been right. They would have taken it, but not without a little head bricking, first. "For the record the expedition launches tomorrow at 2000 hrs." He looked at the group.
