Stargate Command
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Destiny Andre had to stop herself from running down the halls at the news just received. It was news that would make one certain dear friend very happy. The hazel eyes of hers glanced in the passing rooms, frustrated whenever they came up with everyone but the person she was looking for. It had been a few months since the female had seen James Calmara and excitement didn't even seem to be the right word for all she was feeling. James had always been a dear friend since meeting him back at Delta; more than a dear friend. During those dark times, he was the rock this major had leaned on. Being brainwashed by the Nidhogg was still a sore spot to talk about. The reason that this young woman had stayed back at Stargate Command for years. Sure it was fear always holding her back from going on other expeditions, but it was understandable. Destiny knew that she was recovered from that time, but there had always been that subtle doubt in the back of the mind. Lies saying the moment she stepped out, something could happen. Though whenever those lies seemed to surface, there was James always confronting them with truth. That was the main reason this female fell so hard for the Sergeant. As wrong as it was for their line of work in the military, it was almost unavoidable. After how deep their friendship went with him always being there through that dark time, it would be more shocking if feelings didn't arise.
Turning down the corner, Destiny stopped outside a door, finally glance the figure of the person she had been searching for. Standing outside, the young woman let herself fade into memories; memories of the times the two had together. She still remembered when the talk of feelings were brought up. A crimson color splashed on the cheeks of the major thinking of that day. The kiss had come out of no where, and all she wanted to do was have the floor swallow her up. Thank god James had admitted his own feelings, but that still didn't stop the embarrassment. From there, the friendship blossom deeper in a whole new way. It was always hard to find time for the two to be together; the reason the major had cherished the moments they did have, but they were short lived. The distance of galaxies had taken a toll on the two and mutually decided to just remain friends. Even if they both had agreed, and still kept in close contact, that didn't stop the brunette from turning off the feelings she had for that man. There had only be one other time that Destiny had felt this way towards someone. It was another young man from the Delta expedition; Kevin Phillips who was also still a dear friend. She had felt this deeply for him at one time too; the reason she knew exactly how she felt with James. Did that make everything easier? Oh heck no! If anything, it made it all even more confusing. That was one thing the Major was always bad about. Give her anything with wings, anything that flies, anything that involved the military, and she knew exactly what to do. It was breaded deep in her DNA. It was in coursed through her veins; the reason she would retire here at a right old age. Military, that was easy. When it came to matters of the heart, actually telling someone how she felt, or in this case, still felt? Yeah that was a whole other story. The only three people who could really drag that out of this brunette was her daughter Serenity, her sister Azaela and her best friend Ayden. Beyond that? Good luck. Thankfully, those feelings wouldn't be brought up today, or ever. It was set in Destiny's mind, that ship had sailed with James. They had tried, but it wasn't meant to be. That still didn't stop the continual what ifs to surface every now and then.
Destiny slowly stepped into the room, coughing slightly, letting her presence be known. She remembered James mentioning he was going to be around more often for awhile. There was a new expedition starting up, one that he was going to be apart of, and everyone was getting ready for it around here. The reason for the excitement from this female. After tones of encouraging from the higher ups, Destiny addressed the Admiral of the expedition; only to come to find out he was planning to talk to the pilot as well. The Major had just come from the meeting sealing her spot on the new Vedas Expedition, and there was only one person that she wanted to share the news with first before anyone else. "I know we said we would meet up later, and I know you're probably in the middle of something important, but I kind of wanted to share something with you." This was something the pilot could never help; rambling. A bad tendency she had when it came to nerves or excited; insert both at this particular moment. "Remember how you've always been encouraging me to step away from the SGC? Remember how you've been telling me about this new expedition you're going on? Well, meet the newest member of Vedas.' A wide grin crossed the female's face. It felt good to be saying she was going off world again. It had always been hard watching everyone leave for an exciting new world or galaxy. There had always been an ache to join them, god knows she had been asked million of times, but fear always been the factor holding her back. Not this time. This time, she was going to be joining them, and there would always been a familiar face on the team as well. That made it all the more easier.
Destiny rocked back on the heels of the boots, waiting for James' reply. "Oh and Hi by the way." The brunette waved awkwardly, tucking a strand of hair behind the ear. The seconds ticked by as she waited, hoping the reaction would be a welcomed one. Sweat started to appear on the palms as the young woman tucked them into the pockets of her pants. Thank you nerves for striking again. Got to love when they come at the worse time. she thought, biting the bottom lip. Another nervous habit. Why did the seconds always tick by closer when you're waiting for something. Never ceased to amazing this pilot.
