Can I get an oops

Javan leaned back in the chair. "My Sister loaded the thing, it might have some pop music in it. I haven't even listened to most of it, maybe 50 out of the 600 songs on it. I like to work to the sound of blues music so that's mostly what I have listened to on it, no idea what else there is." He felt his tongue loosening up from the alcohol. It's not that he was a light weight, its that the drink in question was well aged, and had a higher content than most drinks, plus he was exhausted from all the visits he had been getting, seemed like half the base was coming down with some kind of cold or flu virus, and he hadn't met a shrink on the base yet, though if there was one, the people of the base felt they weren't good enough. Most of the complaints had been nightmares, and paranoia along with hearing whispers. He wrote it off as stress in some cases, and in a few he was pretty sure there was an underlying mental condition, but his specialty was physical medicine, both in humans and animals. He had treated a few wild animals that he'd found caught in plastic containers and stunned by suddenly slamming doors.
He had one in a cage he had borrowed from the bio lab, it looked like a cross between a cat or weasel and a snake, it had pointy ears, but only tiny undersized forelimbs and virtually non existent hind limbs. The creature was surprisingly gentle and tolerant of his ministrations. It had suffered a nasty burn after climbing into the hot engine compartment of one of the vehicles. The weird thing about this creature was that seemed to be blind, or nearly so, and relied mostly on a sort of echolocation. He had asked fro help from the bio lab, but they didn't want to study a defective sample, this one appeared to be atypical compared to the others of its species, all of which that had been seen so far being more developed in the forelimbs. He had named it Sophie, assuming it was female by the well developed mammary glands along its belly.
"Anyone know anything about the local wildlife? Besides the birds that's is, Biology won't tell me squat, and say I should stick to giving out flu shots." He rolled his eyes for effect. He sighed a bit and thought about the happiest day of his life in that moment. The day his now ex wife had said yes to marrying him. "You're pretty lucky Lt. Col. Hamrick, you've got someone who really cares about you. Don't let that go, I let my career get in the way, and didn't see my wife's real self through the haze of my success. Bitch slept my CO."
