Previously of Stargate Vedas…

Having fully explored the Outpost, the expedition makes its first moves into the main base, now referred to as Vedas Command. Shortly after arriving, the Devas deity Narad appears, warning that an ancient evil lurks beneath the base. When power suddenly goes offline, the evil escapes, and now stalks the tunnels beneath the base.

And now, the conclusion….


As soon as Narad had disappeared and a deafening roar had rung out through the base, everyone had jumped into action. Admiral Oxford had quickly split those present into two groups, sending SV-1 into the tunnels beneath the base to find out what they were up against. Meanwhile, he tasked the base personnel with exploring the base’s laboratories to track down any evidence or reports that might be of use. Narad had implied that the evil had been the result of an experiment between the Devas and Ancients, suggesting that the labs would be a good place to start.

“I think the labs are just ahead,” Henry explained, examining the roughly drawn map he had brought with him. While the interior decorating was clearly in the Hindu tradition, overall the base was built in the traditional snow-flake design of Ancient cities. From what he’d been able to tell, the labs were located in the east wing of the base, which they were closely approaching.

However, Pratt suspected that finding the labs would be the easy part. While he could translate the native language, and those with him had demonstrated a natural talent with the base’s computer system, there could be hundred or even thousands of reports that would need to be examined. How they were going to dig through all that data was beyond him.

The fact that there was a powerful being stalking the lower levels of the base, threatening to attack at any moment, certainly didn’t help the situation.

Fee followed the group, lagging behind a bit while she played around with her tablet and talking with Aear. She was worried about the offworld teams-normally, she could get faint signals sometimes, but it had been dead for several hours. She hoped that maybe they were just sleeping. At any rate, she wasn't paying much attention. She showed Aear something on her tablet.

See, here? That's me da... It was a photobook of her family. She was happy seeing the photos of her father, stepmother, and Liam.

Henry spoke, and Fee's brain barely registered.

I think the labs are just ahead... Fee made a face. She remembered laboratory science from MIT and it had bored her. She sighed, and went forward.

Lovely. If there are buttons, can I push them? Yes, she was being childish, but she couldn't help it. She needed to press buttons on a regular basis or else she went a little crazy.

At the front of the group, Henry lead the base personnel around the final corner and approached the door to the Devas laboratory. He examined the control panel for a moment, translating the native text. Thankfully the design was similar to the other control panels the team had encountered; Henry had half expected the lab to have a more complicated or secure system. He punched in one of the access codes they’d be able to extract from the base’s data core, and the lab door retracted up into the roof, granting them entry.

Stepping into the lab, Henry had no doubt that Fiona would be find something that to play with. “I think you might be in luck,” the archaeologist replied. The lab was square in shape, with what looked to be control panels and computer consoles lining each of the four walls. In the middle of the room were a number of tables which housed experiments long since completed or abandoned.

As usual, the issue would be where to start. The lab looked to have houses dozens, if not hundreds, of tests and experiments in its time.

Pratt moved to one corner and wiped the dust off a console and took a seat in front of it. He fired up the alien computer and waited for it to load. “Narad didn’t give us much to go off,” he reminded everyone in the lab. “All we have is that something evil lurking in the tunnels under the base. Anything we learn beyond that is new intel.”

Aear hung back with Fee as they entered the lab. He wasn't exactly talking to the Admiral right now. Ok so the man hadn't forced him out of the room and Aear had been a bit brash but really it had to be said sooner or later. Maybe he could have phrased it better but Aear wasn't always good with words. As they walked he signaled Chiquita to meet them in the labs. If he was going to find out how to fight this thing he needed all the help he could get, from the sounds of it he was probably the only one here with the means of defending against such a creature.

Fee however seemed to be in a lighter mood. She showed him a picture of her father, though likely it was helping to put her in a better mood. He smiled at the picture. I don't have a lot of mine. My father was killed at the start of the war and I didn't really get the chance to get along with him. Remind me to drag some out some time though.

Chiquita showed up as Henry mentioned their proximity to the labs. He already informed her of the plan, she would go through translating and he would pull anything even remotely useful. They entered the lab and took a terminal each, each one of them forming several magical terminals and a magical keyboard to process it faster. Let's get to work then. he said as they got to it their hands flying over the magical keyboards with speeds that Fee's experienced hands wouldn't dare to type at.

After a few minutes Aear transfered some of the data to Henry's console. Both the original and the translated. Pratt am I reading this right or is the translation of? he called out to the man. The creature can manipulate certain kinds of energy?

It was a bit of a sour note for the archaeologist: all he really had family wise was his father, who he wasn't that close with. His mother had passed away, and he had no sibling. To this point his life had been focused on finishing degrees, publishing books and articles and securing funding for his research. He’d also believed that a family would ‘just happen’ to him ‘when the time was right’. It hadn’t. And now that he was on the other side of the universe, and well on the way to his 40th birthday, the prospect of having a family of his own was quickly fading. Somewhere along the way, in between all that he’d achieved, he’d forgotten to find the time to settle down and procreate.

He shook his head to clear it, and returned to work.

A piece of text appeared on his screen, having been forwarded to him by the Meowtian team member, who asked if his translation was correct. Pratt poured over the data, consulting the notes he had brought along with him from previous translations. “Outstanding work Mr Charter,” the archaeologist replied. Whether it was training or a unique trait of the Meowtian race, Aear was proving himself to be a quick learner when it came to the native language of the base. “This is a report from a base scientist, who is discussing how the creature is able to manipulate manner in a way their understanding of physics contradicts. If I’m reading this correctly, it… has the potential to make matter disappear entirely when it is angered.” The pause during the statement was a result of a nervous gulp from Henry. Making matter disappear did not sound like something he wanted to encounter. And given that the creature had been in a cage or cell for thousands of years, it was likely to be very, very angry.

“From the looks of this file,” he continued. “I don’t think they made the creature, rather they found it one the planet when they arrived here.” Thankfully, there wasn’t any indication that there were others of its species wandering around. If Henry was going to battle a creature that was able of defying the laws of physics, he’d prefer to not have to fight its siblings and friends as well.

He caught up with the group moments after they had arrived around laboratories. Taking time to assert and re-evaluate the situation, Matthew had inking that they more than screwed if the creature wasn't contained back to where it escaped from. They need more manpower that at the moment, yet till Shiva arrived they had to make it with how many they had for now. He had people and teams working in the other parts of the large base; checking every nook of the wing.

Walking inside, he heard Fiona's comments and had a small smile on his lips. Her eagerness reminded him of his own daughter he had back home. His baby girl had followed the family's footsteps into Navy. His own father had glowed for months with pride, some days Matt noted the old man still did. He was still too young to be a grandfather. He was happy to wait few more years for that. Thinking of his family brought him to the one member he had by his side. Having Bobby around was than what words would cover verbally, even then Matt didn't have to voice them. There appeared to be an unspoken agreement between the five boys. Not that he couldn't be out here on his own, but having the Captain around was god send as well. Little did he know that his baby brother was coming.

His train of thought was cut by Aear's words, taking a moment to consider to the turn of events, Pratt's confirmation only cemented the finds by Charter. Pratt's further information disturbed him greatly. For a split second he had moment of regard for sending his flagship team to investigate the creature. Concern for each member was on his mind, as much as he tried there was separate concern for Bobby. Since the man had recently discovered the joys of fatherhood much later in life than Matt had wanted for him. If he lost Bobby, there was no way Matt was going to able face Robert Oxford III; mostly known as Robbie.

His head turned to face the Doctor, "Are you telling me that this creature was already here?" he asked, "There is no indication there are more of them hiding, lurking in this galaxy?" The idea of stumbling upon one was just as bad.

"Doctor Pratt, relay your findings to Captain Oxford." He was going to sit here and find something for SV-1 to find this with. What the h3ll was taking Erickson so long to get here?

Fee smiled at Aear as he replied to her.

I don't have a lot of mine. My father was killed at the start of the war and I didn't really get the chance to get along with him. Remind me to drag some out some time though.... Let's get to work then.


The smile dropped from Fee's mouth when they arrived at their stand-still location. It was BEAUTIFUL-well, it was if you were a nerd, and Fee was mostly certainly one of those. She was amazed by the sheer number of machines, each glowing in a long line of unmined data. She was in HEAVEN.

She noted the Admiral's arrival, mostly by scooting closer to Aear. She was listening to Henry's voice-it had started out oddly-wistful, perhaps-but it changed.

This is a report from a base scientist, who is discussing how the creature is able to manipulate manner in a way their understanding of physics contradicts. If I’m reading this correctly, it… has the potential to make matter disappear entirely when it is angered....From the looks of this file, I don’t think they made the creature, rather they found it one the planet when they arrived here. She took a deep inhale, and indicated the screen in front of her. She turned it on, and tapped a few keys.

Interesting genetic markers. We need a medic in here, because I have NO idea how to read them. The infrared CODES, yes, the actual MEANING-not a clue, the petite redhead said, scratching her nose and letting out a deep sigh.

Makes kept close to Henry Pratt and carefully observed his movements as he worked, holographic screens came to life as they neared them. Makes just mentally kicked herself at what Madromas revealed to her about th planet and its apparent importance to keep isolated and secret so the Swarm wouldn't find it. And now these humans had found it. Just their luck.

"Yes, Mr Pratt. the crature was indeed here when my people first settled this world long ago" Makes said softly so only Pratt could hear her words clearly "Generations ago when Fijitia was in its prime and the conquests of the galaxy cleansing were completed, we settled on several worlds, this was one of them, however. This world proved too strong and resistent to our methods, In turn we ended up having small farming zones established on this world." She said.

"Then came the Swarm War two generations ago. Forcing us to leave all our outer colonies, including this world. When we came here those you call the Ancients had tried to settle this world. Only they ignored our warnings of what this world harbored. My ancestors at the time, believed that what was within this world, under this base, was what they called a Celestial. I for one, have never met or seen such things or creatures. Save in holoscreens or training. If this creature can make matter disappear; then yes, its most likely a Celestial, most likely severely pi$$ed off at being locked up by those you call Ancient Races"

There was something of a condecending tone to how she spoke of the Ancients, yet she spoke of them as if she were bred to hate them for what they had tried to do ages before. They had tried to seed the galaxy with those relic rings. To which on several holy planets dedicated to the Fijitia Goddess had one placed, which sparked the War of Conquest. which in turn sparked the Galaxy Cleansing. It was natural then that those native to the galaxy, with their own gods and in this case, Goddess, had to fight to keep their lands cleansed, And yet they were unable to destroy the strange rings, but they did manage to remove the power sourrces for most of the ones they had come across. Others they just buried. Or used as decretive walls Or even as tombs. Makes however seemed more intriged by those who had used the strange relics. And that one on this planet, among others, were still usible.

Turning from her screen to look to Pratt, she said simply a question. "Why did you come ? Do you not fear The Swarm ?" Even though she appeared human, Pratt had seen her in her ffeline form, much more graceful, more natural. Yet he had not really seen her in combat. Yet. And she did not want to go into combat against a Celestial. Even if they were nice. Heck, for all Makes cared, she'd much rather take a Digitalis Trip over facing one.

At least she had a decanter of Catmint Julep. Now to keep said drink out of the sight and scents of Aear....

All around the room, information was beginning to stream in from the computer consoles being operated by the base personnel. Fiona had stumbled across some sort of DNA-like information on the database, and Makes-Eternal had explained all she knew about the species. They still didn’t know much, but they were learning every minute.

At the Admiral’s request, Pratt relayed the information to SV-1, who were in the tunnels beneath the base tracking the beast.

“You would have to confirm it with Makes-Eternal,” Henry replied to the Admiral. “But given the age of this creature, I’d suspect it unlikely that others exist. Surely we would have notice a creature in our travels that could destroy matter on an atomic level?” In fact, but keeping the beast in containment, the Ancients and Devas may have been the only creature it was still alive. In some ways, it might have been better if they power to its energy cell had cut out generations ago, leaving the beast to die before the expedition had even arrived.

“I must confess that we knew nothing of this Swarm War before we arrived,” Henry replied to Makes-Eternal. He was aware that the Ancients had battled many powerful beings in their long history, and at one point, a plague that had affected numerous galaxies. From the sounds of it, they’d managed to annoy the Fijitians while they were in this galaxy.

“Focus on the term ‘Celestrials’” Henry announced to everyone in the room. “The Ancients may have used a different term or name for the species, but it’s a start.”

“Focus on the term ‘Celestrials’” Henry announced to everyone in the room. “The Ancients may have used a different term or name for the species, but it’s a start.”

Aear had been absorbed in his work and wasn't sure he was listening properly. "Please tell me you didn't just say 'Celestial'?" he questioned the Dr.

Aear folded his arms when he got confirmation. This was not good. If it was anything like the magical beings that Meowtians referred to as celestials then it may as well be a god. Even he couldn't fight against something like that, all of the S levels in the empire would be no match. Aear stood up and pulled the admiral away a look of deep concern on his face.

Order your people to fall back Admiral. he warned sternly.

She said "Dr. Harrison I'll be going down to the labs and see if they need my expertise"..

She was even carrying her standard medical kit just to be on the safe side, if someone happens to be injured, when she arrives.

"Dr. Pratt, do you require my expertise?? If so please give me a complete translation, and I'll be happy to help you out" she said in a formal tone.

Vanessa realised it was entirely too early in the morning to be handling something like this but it was important and it was the nature of the job these days. Alien technology is what she was good at figuring out, but this beyond her realm of expertise at the moment. So these aliens were part of the personnel or something like that. To her this "ghosting" as she was calling it in her own mind reminded her of some warped Animorphs book she had read as a kid. Though she very much doubted that this is what these things were? And if that were the case there was certainly no theories to doubt that at this point either. Right now she needed to wake up and get the animorph analogy out of her brain. Easier said than done.

"Are you saying this creature is native to this area? Or was it brought here from somewhere else?, Sorry it is early and I am a bit confused. I have an idea but it would need Oxford's approval at best. Let me go with a Diplomat to speak with them." It might not be the best idea but it might give them some more insight into what was going on and it was her area to learn about these different alien types in order to help the diplomats. She took a moment to see if there were other ideas presented at the moment. She knew they knew some but not enough.

Fee was typing away furiously, with Aear at her side, working the back panel that she couldn't reach. Which was most of them. Cursed shortness! She was trying to run the DNA information she'd found into her sorting database, so the Medical personnel could pull it up as needed. Oh, yeah, she should probably tell Harrison and Tuck about that. Anyway, she heard the voices around her.

Why did you come ? Do you not fear The Swarm ? Fee leaned into Aear. She spoke to the Meowtain.

What's a Swarm? She knew that the Meowtains were related to the alien speicies that Makes was. She diverted her gaze then, back to the keyboard. Another voice, this time Dr. Pratt.

Focus on the term ‘Celestials'..The Ancients may have used a different term or name for the species, but it’s a start.” Fee nodded, and then touched her screen, tapping away at keys as she swiped from one screen to another. She queried "Celestials," and waited a moment. She asked Aear to enter the key code that would hurry the process along, and the machine hummed to life. Good. She heard him speak, though, his tone much more unsure than usual.

Please tell me you didn't just say 'Celestial'?...Order your people to fall back Admiral... Fee waved him away. She could handle it now. She pressed "PRINT" and handed Dr. Pratt a stack of papers.

I should figure out a way to translate this stuff to Celtic, because I can't make North or South of it.... She sighed. She spotted Lily enter, and waved the woman over.

Dr. Tuck, can you read DNA profiles? She pointed to her screen. It's just here...

Dr. Tuck was waved over by Fiona to look at some DNA profiles she found, but couldn't read herself.

"Dr. Tuck, can you read DNA profiles?" She pointed at the screen.



Lily looked at the screen for sometime trying to figure out what kind of DNA, on the screen, but it didn't look like anything she had seen before, wondering what kind of creature has this DNA string, it must be very special in ways we can only imagine..

"Yes I can read DNA profiles but this one looks Strange, Did you make a translation of it?? My Ancient isn't very good" She said in a surprised tone.

Before she got an answer she asked another question "What Kind of creature are we dealing with here since, everyone seems out of it??" she said in worried voice.

Aear shot Lily a dark look. Before closing his eye apologetically breathing slowly. If Hama-chan is anywhere near close to accurate with it being a Celestial then you don't have anything to fight it. According to legend the beings made of magic held my people to the brink of extinction. said Aear as calmly as he could. So I wont ask you again Admiral. Get your people out of there before they get themselves killed or i'll go down there and drag them back myself. said Aear almost glaring at the Admiral as he folded his arms. He could and would trace Miki and transfer down to join SV1.

I would not suggest you fight such a creature. And if it IS a Celestial i'm the only person qualified to negotiate. he added. He did not like having people he cared about in harms way and whilst not directly the Admiral and this expedition had caused this situation. Put simply he owed Blue a life debt and he was NOT going to let her die down there.
