Command Room

Mac tightened her boots, and then sighed. She hoped that this time would go MUCH better than the last. She stood up, and got her P-90 secured to her waist. Under her standard issued jacket top, she had a black T-shirt, a small marine badge, the only marker she was something other than just another no-name grunt. She got ready to gate out. 

The Gate

Mac stood near, taking a head count. This time, her team consisted of the same people as last time, this time Kana Charter was subbed in for her brother, but Mac wasn't sure how she felt about that. Before they stepped through the Gate, though, she quickly debriefed her team. 

Gather up, please. Our assignment THIS time is just to gather data. We're still exploring this new world, and we're not supposed to have any contact with the natives if at all possible, ok? I will assign tasks when we arrive, ok? She nodded, and then stepped through. It was getting easier now.

[Kana Charter]

Gate Room

Kana was in the gate room first. Her brother had always taught her to be punctual and on time, early if possible. She'd combined her tablet and medical scanner once again and was making sure everything on her end was ready. The tablet processed data faster and her scanner gave her magical scans that the tablet would never be able to perform. Aear had written the interface for her however, she wasn't a programmer or an engineer after all.

She looked up as the rest of the team assembled giving a small bow to each as she greeted. Kana was hoping for a peaceful science mission with none of that running about and sabotaging random machines that she'd had to do last mission. Whilst physically she'd recovered the magical stress she'd built up had yet to dissipate. She didn't want to use a lot of magic and would prefer it if she could get away with none at all but in Kana's experience you rarely got what you wanted.

Understood Said Kana after Mac had briefed them.They stepped through the gate soon after. Kana was still not entirely used to the idea of gate travel, given a choice she rather use one of the Dimensional Transfers. Though there was no denying the benefit of not having to use mana. She would never had been able to evacuate everyone in their last mission if she had to transfer them all back to the base. Just the thought was enough to scare Kana. Maybe she should go and see Harrison after this. She didn't want it affecting her work after all.

As she stepped through the gate they seemed to be in a clearing in a small wooded area. They had been told that a settlement was not too far away and to meet up with SV-7 to continue their expedition. Kana waited for Mac to give them their instructions. Whilst she was used to having a measure of autonomy she was also used to doing as her told. She was only a junior doctor after all and had to fall back on her more experienced peers, and these military liked to issue orders.

Gate room

Lequana stood there in the gateroom tipping her head from one side to the other as she sung a little song to herself about hiding in the snow . It was a song she learned when she was young from her mother, it was a song her mother sang to her when she couldn't sleep and one she always loved .
She reached to her arm and tapped a few lights which showed the results of a full system analysis . Everything was back to normal, she had all so updated her system so she'd have more control if Aear ever did anything like what he done again . From working with the Tau'ri, she was able to look at her tech from different eyes, with the result if her contrivance was not on hand, with a tap on her wrist she could higher or lower her defensive system .

With her commanders orders she stepped through the gate .

Gate Room

Koren entered the gate room shortly after Kana, giving her a nod. He was nervous about this mission; something didn't seem right about what happened on this planet, and they were going back far too soon for his tastes. As Lequana entered, he gave her a respectful, long head bow; due to her bartering with the Doctor and Koren's aloofness with the Admiral, their prisoner, who still would not divulge her name, had remained untouched by the military personnel of the base. She hadn't proved useful yet, but Koren knew that if they could find any dirt on her on this moon, they would have enough leverage to have her talking, and maybe even convince her to play for their side...at least for awhile.

"Gather up, please." Mac said as she entered, seemingly pi$$ed off as always. It did have a way of rubbing of on the team's mood, and Koren was considering confronting her about it, "Our assignment THIS time is just to gather data. We're still exploring this new world, and we're not supposed to have any contact with the natives if at all possible, ok? I will assign tasks when we arrive, ok?"

Koren picked up there, "We have some unfinished business we were working on before I was so rudely interrupted. To be as hypocritical as possible, lets try to keep things a little quieter this time. UN weapon rules; no exceptions." He eyed the Charter in their clan; they seemed to be the most unpredictable, as well as the most dangerous when provoked. Sometimes you have to lose a man to save hundreds. They'd gotten lucky last time with the mercenary, but Koren doubted they'd get so lucky again.

Koren stepped through the gate and back into the forests that gave him chills. He set up a defensive perimeter and waited for Mac's orders.

Mac finished, and then Koren took over.

We have some unfinished business we were working on before I was so rudely interrupted. To be as hypocritical as possible, lets try to keep things a little quieter this time. UN weapon rules; no exceptions.... She sighed. SHe agreed with his call, but regretted her previous call.

You all have the plan. Let's go... She waited for the others to step through first, with Lt. Telion leading the way. Then went Kana, and Lequana. She stepped through, feeling a little uneasy. She was hoping that this mission would be a "do-over" of sorts. Too bad that Aear wasn't there to see it. Oh, well, the Captain had separated them, and maybe that was for the best.

After they had all stepped through, she helped Koren to finish the defensive perimeter, and then started to speak.

I suppose we can start here. Kana, you're the medic, right? And Ka'ti, you're tech support. The Lt and I are the hired guns...research. Why the HELL they picked a Marine for research is beyond me, she said, mostly to herself.

We'll stay together this time...I think that's safest. I'll lead, Charter, Ka'ti, you'll be between myself and Koren for safety. Let's start with soil samples. With a deep sigh, she reached into her pocket and pulled out some vials. She was alert, though...she knew they were never REALLY alone.

Kana nodded at the orders, she felt like Mackie didn't like her for some reason. Knowing her brother it was something Aear had done. Kana let out a quiet sigh before acknowledging verbally. Yokai. There was some wavering in her voice. She wasn't sure how to approach Mackie and she still scared from her last mission.

She helped Mackie fill the vials before offering her services. Do you want me to analyse them now or should I wait till we're back at base?

Koren seemed to be quite the leader though willing to take a back seat for Mackie. Lequana however remained very quiet. Talking to her brother he'd become quite fond of her though. It looked like Kana was going to have fun on this team that was for sure.

Stepping out from the wormhole, Billie motioned for the SF's to fan out and secure the area that eggheads from SV7 would be using for the duration. At least it was a flat plains till the eye could see. Bending down the farther earth in her hands, crumbling them she let the dust fall, and at least it wasn't too dry. Back of her feet she dusted her hands clean on the side of her BDU's.

Moving to stand next to Telion, she supported a light smirk at her commanding officers words, yet made no comment. To her it was clear the Marine was still adjusting to the whole 'another galaxy' deal. When she didn't get her orders Bills shrugged, and stepped to the geek crowed as security escort.

Lequana stood there at the gate taking in a deep breath and feeling the fresh air run through her body . She took ten seconds just to get the feel of the planet, ever since joining the Tau'ri she managed to finally appreciate the small thinks . But there was work to be done and so she looked at her data that flowed on her screen .

" All levels with in limit, no danger to CO 2 your breathing . I'm trying to obtaine areas of interest that look interesting ." As Lequana spoke she kneeled down beside the gate and placed a sensor probe . The probe was from her peoples design with Tau'ri extras . Lequana people were more advanced in many fields, but in other areas the Tau'ri were way ahead and logic says it best to update her tech with Tau'ri experience
She approached the side of the Stargateplacing the probe in a small hole she just dug and covered it with long grass over her probe. With in seconds Lequana was been streamed with new data as she placed another probe to her hip . The probes were designed to send pulses back and forward doing a detailed mapping of anything of anything in the local area plus with in the two probes .

" I'm begin to receive date with in the local vicinity from under the soil, from the readings and the mapping of the local area I'd believe i have three locations of interest I believe would be the best sites . What is your opinion Kana ."

Kana's ears pricked when she heard her name. She wasn't listening per say but meowtians often had to run multiple conversations at once so she still registered everything that Lequana had said. Kana brought out her medical scanner and concluded much the same as Lequana had. Agreed. Environmental variables are within normal Ta- I mean Earth values. She was going to have to get used to using Earth as a reference point rather than Tamura.

With Lequana interfacing her tech with the Earthican tech Kana's new tablet was able to receive the same data. She swapped her scanner for the tablet and accessed the data. Most of it was garbage to her and would need one of her siblings to decypher. She wa a medic, not a mapmaker nor a data analyst. Kana's furrowed her brow as she tried to make sense of it all and bring up the map. She wasn't used to anything other than the medical machines. Finally she managed it and had it highlight what the woman was talking about. There wasn't a lot between them but one did stick out from the others slightly. Lieutenant, I would go with this area. She said showing Mackie her findings.

Mac was packing some soil into vials, and pushing the dirt around the toe of her boots. She was a little bored, if she were to tell the truth. Science wasn't really her cup of tea-she'd rather argue things out, or shoot them, or argue and then shoot, or shoot while arguing, or some combination thereof. But she DID have orders, and she had to follow them. So here she was, in the dirt...actually, it sort of reminded her of home. Not Earth, but her actual HOME in Arizona, where'd she been raised, and more importantly, where her uncle, the Colonel, had helped her to become phyically fit enough to join the Marines.

She was zoning out a bit, daydreaming about Arizona, when a small voice spoke out.

Lieutenant, I would go with this area... She looked up, a question on her face.

It's Colonel. Excuse me? Then the girl's words registered. She nodded.

Thank you, Ms. Charter. Ok, huddle up, people. Lt's Witwer and Telion, take a small team with you a few yards to the east and west of here. Don't go too far, I think...choose two people. Pick Kana or Lequana, as well...I will keep the other one here with me, and one of the...scientisits. She stopped herself from saying "nerds." She just hoped that peace would reign. So far, nothing out of the ordinary...not even the Charter had picked up anything.

After she'd given out orders, and the teams left, she turned to the last remaining people.

We have enough soil, I guess. Let's see if we can get some flora.

Lequana stood there listen to the commanders orders, straight away she knew walking around would be of little help and what she needed was to set up her equipment to gather the samples she had been directed to get . Biological was none of her concern, what she needed were deep level scans, a number of atmosphere deep level scans and more minor scans with samples .

" Well if they may be your requirements I would prefer to remain with ye to set up my equipment and get to work . I would also like to give the second party a scan ball so I can get as much information as possible ."

With her words said she took out a scan ball ready to see if the commander agreed or not .

Mac turned to move out, but then heard the voice of Lequana Ka'ti. She turned back, and looked at the young woman.

Well if they may be your requirements I would prefer to remain with ye to set up my equipment and get to work . I would also like to give the second party a scan ball so I can get as much information as possible. She looked at the ball that the woman held.

What's it do? Mac just wanted to be fully informed before she allowed that.

And feel free to stay here to set up what you need. You can assist myself and the soliders with setting up the rest of the area, as well. We'll need a table and some chairs, just for analyzing and paperwork. Nothing fancy this time. Remember, we're not to call attention to ourselves." She looked once more at the ball, and shrugged.

If it's not going to be obvious, and people won't get hurt, I suppose it's fine. Telion, Witwer? She used her chin to indicate Lequana's glowing ball, after sharing a look with the two other officers. Hey, if it would help, why not? And if not, she was pretty sure that if Lequana had wanted to kill them all, she would've done so by now. Move out.

To Lequana, and the few others who stayed behind, she sighed, and pulled out another vial.

Please use gloves when getting samples of the flora. We don't need poison ivy...or worse. By now, Mac was more or less willing to admit that maybe there were a man-eating plant, like some sort of giant, evil Bromeliad.

There are still a few problems, but we're hoping this mission will find the problems. " Lequana taught for a second the best to describe what she needed to do.

I have already detected an underground stream, along with signs of possible iron ore deposit and more. When I connect my system to your little computer I can access more data. I'v also been ask get data regarding the air quality, I'm also going to need some insects, so I can do a full scan on them since they are not allowed on base and because of that I'll bring back data to are base for the scientists. All these tests are to see if they are up to standards, With hope this will mean less time having to spend doing the sample gathering."

With her bag on the grounds Lequana began to unpack her equipment, over all do, she felt out of her depth with most of the information and have very few to rely on if she'd have to understand it. But she crossed fingers know that she just had to gather the information.

Mac blinked. What? She shook her head a moment, still trying to wrap her mind around the girl's words.

Pulsing orbs that find data. Ok. Insects. Granted. Go find what you need. Take someone with you. Ask Lt. Telion, just for safety, and don't go too far. Here, Mac said, pulling her tablet from her pocket. She never used the thing-she was too old to learn how to use a "supercomputer", or so she believed. she handed it to Lequana. Take this. She watched as the girl bounded off, and then turned to Billie Jean.

I feel like we're being useless. Do you want to take a small team and go that way, just a bit? Mac pointed North.

Walking along with the small crew of the base personnel as well, Billie moved at a even pace. Their task was to collect samples of Earth, soil, water, pretty much everything under the sun they found as a possible study and keep most of the people buried in tasks, while not up to their necks, just enough till another around like the presented itself down the line. She wasn't directly studying it, she was nevertheless excited about what they would find. From experience she knew that whatever they knew about how planets were made, in a lot of the cases the gained knowledge had been thrown out of the window.

Out here one would forget all they were taught back on Earth and in school/Universities. Shock would arrive once these got the wind of just what they were dealing with. Taking up the observation stance Billie heard the assigned leader giving out instructions. For now she would lat them play before diving in herself.

"Doctor Peters," she called out the man who was the assigned leader, as she walked over to him and lowered her voice down a few degrees, "The two SF's will keep guard, I'm going to look around and see if anything of interest can be found."

On one hand she had no idea what to look for, yet on the other, she knew. At least her geologist side did. Watching him consider the offer the man nodded, "This way we might cover more."

Giving him a nod, she moved along the path. For now it would be best if she kept herself close to the group.
