The teams departed to their proper destinations as Destiny Andre remained back with the Base and the rest of SV-4. Usually it wasn't as hard watching teams depart, though this time it was a little bit rougher. The brunette watched as the man she loved stepped through, praying that he would return. It was stupid to be thinking that, but at the same time, the tug of the heart string was undeniable. Forcing back any emotions that would show through the face, the pilot turned to the others, keeping a natural looking face till all the feelings of James' leaving left. After a small breath, the major glanced over the team that was going to be under her command. A team that she would have to come, know, and trust through thick and thin. A new smaller family of this big expedition that would probably face many adventures together - some hardships that they would only get through by each others strengths. For a moment, anxieties washed over the female, plaguing her with fear. What if she wasn't really ready for this? Could she really command a team all her own? Their lives were in the decisions this pilot made, but at the same time, she could almost hear Ayden saying, snap out of it Des. A small smile crossed the face as Destiny knew it was foolish to be thinking such thoughts. All the time spent on a team, as an XO or just a member, was preparation for this moment. The Admiral had faith, so it was time to have faith in herself.

Stepping forward, Destiny looked at the other three that made up SV-4. Captain Katherine Harris. James said that Harris has served in the Delian Galaxy after she was transferred back to the SGC. Already there was a common thread of being in a former galaxy that was once called home. The major made a mental note to swap stories with the Captain later. The pilot couldn't think of a better XO than a former  Delta member. The hazel eyes turned to Doctor Harrison. After undergoing so much physic evals, the brunette had a new found admiration for doctors. You always could use one medical personnel on a team. The mind thought of Katrina Logan; one of the best medics this woman ever met. Finally the gaze settled on the final member, Chiquita Charter - one of the human cats here. She was trying to save reservations about having a human cat on the team, but at the same time, they needed someone who knew the planet. It was hard not to see the girl as a little kid, but how age was run here compared to humans was two different things. No, she needed to be grateful having someone like Chiquita - just prayed she would be able to pull her share, but the again the age different, could probably dance circles around this flygirl. The pilot wondered how the doc and meowtain would do in combat situations. Hopefully they would never encounter that, but being in the stargate program, you never knew.

"Admiral, if there is no other information, I'm going to take SV-4 and head north seeing what we find there. We'll keep in touch by radio contact and let you know of any discoveries." Destiny gave a salute before heading to the door. "Chiquita, why don't you and I lead. Any Intel you have would be greatly appreciated. Captain, you take our six. Keep eyes and ears open. Doctor, I trust you at least know how to use a P-90? Or can be a fast learner?" She gave the respected doctor a kind smile before heading through the door. "If anyone hears anything, or sees anything, speak up. Chiquita, again I welcome any knowledge you may have." It was time now to put all faith in the team. Might as well jump in with both feet. The only way you will truly find out.

Previously on Stargate Vedas.....

After successfully convincing the two Oxfords to take the lead of Project Vedas. The expedition gated to a what appears to be and hanger bay type of area in the middle of vast jungle/rainforest setting. With no signs of life from the previous occupants or artifacts left behind. Teams are left on their to explore their new home. Coming across a new races that are either part of Vedic Galaxy or not. After sending the teams off to explore the neighborhood, the remaining members explore their surroundings.

Studying the Major for second, he looked at his own team after in a quick glance, and shook his head, "Nothing further, Major. If you find anything let us know." This round he hoped that there were no hiccups that would halt their attempts in exploring the area with some ease. He could count of the wildlife to slowly make their presences known due in time. And he knew he didn't need to voice it like Bobby had done that it was a jungle out there.

His eyes landed on Chiquita and bend down to her eye level, "Will you be alright out there?" he asked softly. He had a niece around her age, so a slight guilt at putting her with adults was a factor. The idea of having Vicky out here like Chiquite appalled him. But he was coming to an understanding that these cats weren't like humans. They were advanced. And the Tau'ri weren't even on par with technology as Makes and Mewotains were. Nodding at her answer, Matt made his way to his team.

"Witwer, Murphy, take south," he looked at the two, "the rest of us will cover East, unless Kana would like to join you." he was mentioning the other young girl who wasn't much older then Robbie ..again in age wise.

Bills rose an eyebrow at the Admiral, certainly he wasn't serious about this. He was their giant head that threw orders or made decisions based on the information that was handed to him. "Due to respect, Admiral, won't it be wise if Murphy and you went south?" After all their new friend had been gone for a bit, the tall woman that is.

"Negative," he told her, "your major was Geo-science, you will be more help to Murphy in that regard. You are likely to have a better understanding given your experience, Lieutenant."

Bummed, but she nodded, turned to Murphy, "Guess its gonna be you and me, unless the kid joins us."

Chiquita looked at this team that she had been assigned to, she didn't want to be assigned to this team of strangers. She'd been around this doctor Harrison, but had not spoken to him. The other two she'd seen as she wandered the base after they'd arrived, a lot of them had come through that stargate thing, too big to just be an exploratory team, at least by Meowtian standards in any case. The two women looked like they were military, she might be able to get along with them, working in intelligence she was used to similar protocols and she did have military basic training. If put into a combat situation she could hold her own, she'd been trained for it in case, her strategy was almost exclusively dodge everything thrown at her and use her speed to deal damage and get out again before her opponent could react. It was more like guerilla warfare and suited her skills perfectly but as with everything it had it's flaws. Her defence was abysmal, her barrier jacket could deflect bullets but it was light and didn't cover everything. The doctor, well he was male, she didn't get on with males, she was afraid of them and the only male she'd talk to was Aear, Chiquita talking to Roger any time soon, if at all, was unlikely. She gravitated towards Katherine as they waited for their orders. She stood in her barrier jacket once again, it helped with her nerves, it wouldn't help much but it could make all the difference.

Chiquita heard a male voice directed at her, the admirals. Almost instinctivly she turned herself invisible and hid behind the last Katherine since Kana was busy and Aear had already left. She turned visible again and poked her head slowly out from behind the woman as she realised what he'd said. Chiquita nodded timidly at the man not wanting to be rude but not wanting any further contact with him.

"Yokai." Acknowledged Chiquita walking next to Destiny. "Chiquita not have information, only been here week. Chiquita Sorry." said Chiquita as they walked. Her nerves were making her look and listen more then normal, almost in a hypersensitive state her ears flicked about. She wanted to be with Kana, better yet be with Aear, failing that turn invisible and be with them incognito, but Aear had asked her to help out, she couldn't tell him no. "Chiquita listens." she said as they explored their new home together.

Roger was the next to appear on the makeshift Bridge area. He was not totally thrilled to be here-he had an entire bleedin' clinic to arrange. But he knew it was useless to argue his point..and he supposed there would be time. He had had the foresight to grab his medical kit. He was as ready as he was going to be, given the situation. He eyeballed the scene. 

Doctor, I trust you at least know how to use a P-90? Or can be a fast learner? He gave the young woman a LOOK. To him, a P-90 was an old-school Gibson guitar. But he nodded. He knew the basic workings of medium-sized firearms. 

I would rather leave the killing to you people, but if I must, I must. I have been trained on a Sig Sauer, I trust that the inner workings of a P-90 are similar. Lucy had taught him, just in case he was ever caught up in one of her cases. He hoped to never need the training, but then again, they WERE a million miles from nowhere. 

He followed the others once more through the gate and out into the great unknown. He decided he wasn't going to be Roger Bernard Harrison for this trip. He was going to do what he was TOLD to do by his mum. He was going to pretend to be a solider. He could picture it now-he'd be the dashing young Medic rescuing a damsel, then returning home to his true love's kiss. 

He missed Lucy again. And Chiquita's presence made him ache for Minnie. He wondered if she was walking yet. He was missing so much. As he stepped into the harsh sunlight, he was just Roger again.

Outpost Control Room

As everyone else was going through the Stargate, she was standing back watching with her new team. Comradery was important and helped when being so far from home started getting to you, and she was eager to work with those around her. Though she only knew a little about her new team mates. Major Andre was a fellow pilot and had even been assigned to the Delta Expedition at one time, Doctor Harrison seemed to be a nice guy, someone had mentioned that he had worked for the Surgeon General before coming to the Stargate Program, and then there was Chiquita Charter; one of the cat human hybrids the Expedition had met upon arriving on the planet, the small girl stood beside her, and seemed rather jumpy at all the activity going on around them. 

The Major took a step forward from where they had been standing, turning she looked at the three of then, Kata straightened up a little ready for orders, eager to try out being a XO for once. "Chiquita, why don't you and I lead. Any Intel you have would be greatly appreciated. Captain, you take our six. Keep eyes and ears open. Doctor, I trust you at least know how to use a P-90? Or can be a fast learner?"  Harris looked over at the Doctor as she followed behind Andre, Harrison nodded, "I would rather leave the killing to you people, but if I must, I must. Chiquita was following close behind her as she walked, Admiral Oxford was saying something to the Meowtian girl, Harris stopped and looking behind her to where the girl had been, but she was gone. Her brow wrinkled in confusion as she tried to figure out where the girl had gone, she looked around the Control room and did not see her anywhere. She looked towards the other members of her team still puzzled as to where Chiquita went, but just as she was about to ask, the girl appeared again, her head sticking out from behind Kata's back. "I did not know ya'll could do that.." she said to Chiquita as the girl moved to walk next to Andre. Harris followed everyone out of the Control Room and down the hall that would eventually lead to the Jungle outside, "Hope someone packed bug spray," she reached back and tightened the pony tail that held her hair back, "Might need it with it being so humid,"

The gateroom/the landing area

Sadie was the last through the Gate. But only because she had stayed behind to ensure that everyone else-especially Liam-had made it through safely. As she stepped through, she brought her P-90 to her waist, ready to get into firing stance if she had to. But she arrived, and smiled as she stepped forward. It was gorgeous! It reminded her of the family vacation she'd taken to Costa Rica with her parents and brother when she was a kid. She wanted to take pictures-actually, she wanted Liam to be here so they could have a honeymoon, but that wasn't exactly a great idea right now. She holstered her weapon and approached the group. 

Major, Sgt. Lexington-Kelly, as ordered. Sadie stepped back and waited for her next orders. 

THe Admiral spoke next. 

the rest of us will cover East, unless Kana would like to join you.[/b] Sadie nodded. She was going to go East. Ok. She resumed hold of her weapon and waited for the Go signal. She didn't know what to expect, but she had noticed the kids playing nearby. She wondered what would happen to them. 

Um, Admiral, Major...are you at all worried that the children might pose a security risk?! I mean, how are we ensuring that they themselves are not enemy combatants? Sadie had been a combat medic, and as much as it pained her to suggest, she had seen children soldiers and knew that it was not impossible.

Jungle

Destiny smiled down at the little girl by her side, reminding her so much of Serenity. The heart ached at the daughter left back on earth, wishing there was a way to see her again. Her picture seemed to burn in the pocket of the vest where it was kept. Hopefully they would be able to eventually visit earth once everything was established. "It's okay Chiquita. Just having your presence here is enough. Have you encountered anyone or anything your first week here? Or have you and Aear just been hanging back at the outpost?" She hoped these weren't too many questions for the native. She was native to this galaxy, even if not from this planet. That already gave her a head up over everyone else in the expedition; whether she really knew it or not. Hopefully the motherly instincts wouldn't kick in too much. Yes Chiquita appeared to be a little girl, but everyone, including herself, needed to remember she was far from that.

Glancing over at Harrison and Harris, the major gave a little chuckle. "Don't worry Doc. Harris and myself will make sure you're not caught in the line of fire. Just remember the end with the hole points out." Yeah okay maybe it was too early for teasing, but this was Destiny. She teased and joked with the team basically to see what could be tolerated and what wasn't. Plus it made the time pass by faster. They would have to learn as much as they could about each other. If there was one thing the pilot had learned over the years being in the Stargate Program, it was that your team was your make shift family. You loved them, couldn't stand them at times, but couldn't be without them. That was family - the people you couldn't stand at times, but also couldn't live without.

"Her kind are part ninjas Harris. Didn't know?" She grinned, then chuckled. The bug spray comment brought back the time being captured by the Nadhogg. Talk about bugs. "Bugs don't really scare me anymore like they use to. After you've been captured by big bug like creatures for five months? Yeah don't phase me anymore. Wished I had a huge can of bug spray then." She remember making the comment to the queen and the queen being upset. That was before they had brainwashed her. She wondered if they could likely be captured by cat like creatures here? Oh that would be very interesting indeed.

Hangar-Jungle

The hangar was easy to get to once past the rest of the human group. None noticed her leave, yet. So that was good. Moving quickly she went directly to her fighter and once next to it a hologram activated on the apparent glass of the cockpit of the fighter as her active camo network disengaged. She typed in a strange codec and the cargo hatch faded open. inside were several weapons. And also something more that she required.

Glancing back she spotted on her vision, through walls and everything, two forms still standing in bright gold. Great. She still had to talk to both. She noted how far both figures were. The woman came up as Andre, Destiny Silverwing, the man, came up as Oxford, Matthew. The two were dozens upon dozens of meters off. Which was both good and bad in many respects.

Good because it allowed her at least two minutes to get her required gear and set the autopilot for her fighter. With a small portion of Madromas in the fighter the craft could fly on its own on basic functions alone. She went to the cargo box area and withdrew several items. The diamine rod and energy sword were perfect for what she required at this point, her longrod and battlerod however were for longer ranges. And she needed both of those as well. Sliding the sniper rifle out of its location inside her fighter she set it aside, then she picked up the battlerod. The crystaline spikes along the top of the weapon flared into motion. Perfect. She disengaged the power and hooked that onto her back. Then she snagged more crystal ammo for the battlerod. and also a few packs for her longrod. She also took up two more packs for her rod and a extra powercell for her energy sword.

Stepping back from her fighter she let the cargo hatch fade back into view after taking a bottle of some kind from it. Catmint juice, never did she go anywhere without it. With the security feeds currently cut to the control room she disengaged her hologram disguise and took a long drink of the warm liqur before reengaging her disguise. She slid the bottle into a foam slid that held it in place before heading off as she took up her longrod. Leaving her fighter to take off on its own.

It was time to meet up with her new friends. She hoped she was not going to have to kill anyone. She still had to talk to these humans. Reactivating her avtice came she ducked out into the jungle and headed off. Quickly and quietly. without the Kitsune helping these humans, she knew she could track and not be seen at all.

The heat didn't hit Chiquita nearly as hard as it did everyone else, her barrier jackets light and agile design meant she was easily carrying the least weight. Even with all the Meowtian supplies up her sleeves the dimensional folds Aear had installed meant they didn't weigh a thing. Her jacket designed a lot like a Japanese Kimono which came down to her upper thigh where bike shorts took over to her knees, was only meant for minimal protection.

"Just stay in base mostly." Nodded Chiquita to Destiny's questioning. "New base. New world. New sea. Be careful. Not know who there." She added.

"Only Chiquita use Shades Curtain." Said the young Meowtian hearing the comments about her Inherent Skill. It was a skill so rare no on in the 50 billion large empire knew or could even figure out how it worked. Aear had tried a few times but the exact methods still eluded him.

Kana had been hanging around the control room after all the commotion, Harrison had suggested that she come out and introduce herself to the expedition leader. She waited patiently out of the way not really wanting to be there. She'd much rather be getting their infirmary set up, the sooner she was done the sooner she could be back to work. "I can assist you if you need me to." Said Kana when her name was mentioned. "I would rather be setting up the infirmary however." She added giving Billie a look at calling her a kid. She didn't say anything however, she wanted to but someone had to remain diplomatic and Aear hadn't been doing a very good job so far, she'd need to bridge the gap that he'd wedged wide open. That was Aear however, rushing into things leaving Kana to put the pieces back together. Kana sighed wondering what mess he was making for her on whatever world he was on now.

Engrossed in the diagnostic of the full extent and workings of the locking mechanisms used by the outpost. Staff Sergeant Declan Murphy look up quickly on hearing his name. Glancing frim the Admiral to rhe blond officer stood near him. He look a little nervy at only being part of a pair, that look changed to near terror, when Witwer suggested he be paired with the Admiral. The suggestion was overruled as Dec scrambled to gather up his equipment and shook them down into his pack.  

Sweeping his pack onto one shoulder, he tried to re attach his weapon to the front sling at the same time. His pack slid down to the crook if his elbow making the job of attaching twice as hard. He reached Witwer still sorting himself out, "Sorry sir, just give me a second." He said. Weapon secure and pack clipped to the vest attachments, "Staff Sergeant Murphy,  reporting ready to move miss.....SIR, sir." Dec ratled off, then scrambled to correct his own possable mistake, all while performing a rather awkward slaute. Then nodded in responce to Witwers comments. "There seemed to be a good flow of energy to the south side of the complex. I will follow your lead of course."

Roger followed behind the Major at frank speed. He wasn't scared, but anxious was the right word. He disliked not knowig what lie ahead-he was a man of science, and there was no real science behind this task. 

He nodded once to he rest of his "staff"-Sadie, and Kana. Sometimes the youngest  Charter helped out, too. He was growing to like and appreciate the aliens, and their help. He was certainly learning things, that was for sure. 

He waited around for more orders. He hoped they could make it back to the Base before Sunset, because Roger and camping didn't go well together. 

(Sorry so short, not really sure what's going on just yet; they're sort of milling around...)

Jungle

Kata just shook her head at the Major's reply, she hoped they did not find giant bugs. She took up her position walking slightly behind the other members of her team. She kept looking around at the large trees and expanse of greenery that surrounded them, Harris had never been to the Amazon Jungle, but she bet it looked a little like the planet they were now on. The small group headed north; they had been told to scout out the area and see if they would find any other structures or anything the jungle happen to be hiding from the Expedition. So far all she saw were trees and some bushes, but then again they had just left the base. "All this kind of reminds me of Jurassic Park...minus the dinosaurs," she said aloud to those in front of her.

Stopping in her tracks as Murphy called her sir......sir. Bills slowly turned to face the man with a very narrow gaze. Seeing the rattled look on the staff serge, she shook her head, "Did you just call me, sir?" She asked titling her head at him, feeling a little annoyed with the man, who clearly didn't look any older then herself. So two kids exploring the wild strange jungle here was going to be fun. In the words of Colonel Oxford, it was a jungle out there. This time it was super strange one.

With a pout still supporting she looked in the general direction where South was, asserting the area with her blue hues. Apart from this place, what would cause a energy signal, where one could only see green beyond the horizon as far as possible. It did occur to her to be lost tech left behind, but even then thousand of years of sending pulses, there was like hood that it should have been dead. Taking lead, she slowly went down a small steep hill, "If that signal has been going for ages, shouldn't it be fading by now?" Bills asked as she ducked her head from a thick truck that was just little higher than her height, moving beyond it. "Unless, something is keeping it going." Which was going to be interesting to find just what it was.

"How long have you been with the program?" It was an off handed question, more along the line of getting to her peers. She was still thinking that the Admiral was few short in the brain for not listening to her. Not to say she knew what was best, yet the idea had sounded practical.

They both go bang, that's true. Roger shook his head, but slung the weapon over his left arm with the attached webbed handle. He sighed. 

Yes, they do. Over the other arm, he slung his medical bag. He'd had the whole medical staff outfitted with one. He hoped that they wouldn't NEED them, but he wanted to be prepared. 

All this kind of reminds me of Jurassic Park...minus the dinosaurs Roger couldn't help but chuckle. 

Yes...that is correct, Miss Harris. But I hope that the native fauna only eats plants. Becasue a flesh eating animal wasn't exactly something he'd been trained to handle.

Sadie pulled her P-90 from it's sheath and stood by the Gate as the others went through. She was ready to hold down fort while the others explored. It was fine with her-she didn't mind being in the clinic. She LIKED outdoors, and being active, but of course she also had a job to do. After the last of the outgong teams passed through, she headed for the Clinic. She used her radio to buzz into her CO. 

Major Andre, this is Sgt. Lexington-Kelly. I am reporting to the Clinic as requested, and awaiting further instruction. I will prepare a triage area in case...and a surgical suite, as well. Maybe a few Rescue rooms, as well? Just in case the teams found a few POWs or something. She would want them to be comfortable while Command figured out what to do with them.
