Are you serious?! And there are humans still in contact?! How many missions does Stargate run at once? It seems like such a holy show to do just ONE... Calmara chuckled at her surprise at the scope if the stargate program. " Deadly serious, Homeworld Command still has active expeditions in the Pegasus and, Delian galaxies so this will be expedition number three. Add to that the stargate program thats active in our milky way galaxy. We have a lot of plates spinning, but we manage somehow." She had a point though it was a massive undertaking to support the ever growing stargate activities, its times when he looked at the program as a whole Calmara considered the possibility it woukd not be a secret program for much longer.
That makes them better than US, if you ask me. Look, I understand that you have training and protocols, but what happens when the right thing to do goes against those rules and training?
Calmara stopped and eyed her for a second or two, such a direct question on such a sensitive issue could spell trouble. Then again it could just be what it was, Fiona wanted to know what she was getting into. The engineer elected to trust and answered honestly, explaing his own personal view and convictions. "Most of the rules we have are designed to make sure we use whatever training we have in the right way, at the core of most armed forces is the concept of protecting those who can't defend themselves, so in the few instances where follwing 'the rules' would put such people in harms way 'the right thing' is the only way to go. I would and have bent and broken rules, but only after I had considered the consequences of my actions, otherwise whats the point in being out here." His tone slipped from one that was informing to one that was making a point and, a rather forceful point at that. He turned back to the part he was working on and tightend the bolt that brought it all together. "I'm done with this part, you..........you hold that part with that end facing me, and then this slots in like that and we tighten up. Grabing for a ring spanner which he passed to Fiona and pointed to where she was to place it and a socket wrench he gave it two turns while listening to her next concern.
"...a team?.........Like, split up?! And um, I don't really do well working with others...I have poor people skills. I do OK one to one, but add a third person, and it's all up." Calmara gave her what he hoped was a friendly smile, thinking back to his first posting and that the first few months that were difficult to say the least, he imagined this was similar, maybe?! "Well theres only four people per team normaly. Would it help if I sugested working with one team member per mission?" He suggested tentatively while indicating to put the half completed part down.
